Lincoln Flood Drowns Ten as City Faces Record Rain
More than six inches of rain fell over Lincoln over nine hours on Sunday night producing the worst flood in the city's history. Water reached eleven feet at Twentieth and O streets and three feet inside the Union Pacific depot. Gas, electric and water plants shut down and the Lincoln Star suspended publication until gas resumed. Salt Creek swelled to three miles wide, inundating the southwest part of town. Ten people are known to have drowned.
