Rainfall Helps Corn Plowing While Delaying Harvests
One and eight tenths inches of rain fell Sunday night aiding corn plowing. Subsequent showers of one half to three quarters of an inch hinder oat harvest, and some wheat in shock began to grow.
Death of Henry Eaton noted with funeral in Milford
L M Cavett returned from Milford Nebraska after attending the Saturday funeral of his stepfather Henry Eaton who died on the 10th. Eaton a Civil War veteran served in Co G 4th U S Cavalry and Co G 9th Indiana Vol reenlisted and was discharged three times. He was born in Pennsylvania about 70 and moved to Diller from Kansas. He lived at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Milford before dying likely from gall stones. He was buried in Milford in the old soldiers section with sons present including Clarence Eaton and Alvin Cavett. He left a grateful note for the home staff and doctors. Next Thursday will be show day in Diller.
