County Agent Named For Jefferson County This Year
Jefferson county will have a county agent this year regardless of the ballot results. At a Jefferson county Agricultural Association meeting in Fairbury last Friday the group decided to continue on a membership basis. Directors were elected, with Prestonbury reappointed. Pioneer Howard H. Pyche Trailblazed Mission Work Across States
Howard H. Pyche was born in Nova Scotia on April 7, 1871 and moved to the United States in 1894 arriving in Boston on October 1. He pursued education by various means while doing manual labor and began Christian work with a city mission. He spent years in evangelistic and home mission efforts across several states and later worked in Brazil, Indiana.

Five years as city missionary led Pyche through Nebraska and beyond
From Indianapolis to Nebraska in 1907 urged by Rev S Henford then state work superintendent Pyche was ordained June 25, 1909 at Campbell Nebraska. He served Congregational churches in Ravenna Farnum Loomis Silver Creek Springfield Norfolk Bloomfield West Point Gufton Leigh and Diller. He cherishes Episcopal Methodist Baptist Congregational ties and steadies his Presbyterian faith. In retirement he grows flowers writes poetry studies history and collects old china with a hobby of making canes. He married Jennie Gertrude Dudley July 4 1900 in Boydton Va. before marriage he did missionary work among Nort h Carolina colored people and ran an infants home in Kingsport North Carolina. The Pyches have three children and three grandchildren.
