Mrs Ida McElwee dislocated her right shoulder last Friday after a fire incident. She fell from a couple of lower steps in the Racket store. A chloroform setting operation was needed but she suffers no pain now and is expected to recover soon.

Big Fire Destroys Diller Brick Store and Opera House

A major blaze Friday morning consumed the west side two story brick building on Commercial Street, housing Leock & Habicht general store on the first floor and tenants Dre Claude Ellis dentist H Bauguess Mrs Dora Wohlfarth Miss Sophia Johnson dressmakers on the second. The adjacent one story frame shed owned by Mrs Mary Ewers and occupied by harness maker G P Raymond also burned. Telephone operators in the rear bank building heard the alarm shortly after 8 am.

Fire Sweeps Through Dry Goods Store In Sudden Blaze

Neighbors including Mr Loock reported smoke from a street building and a general alarm was sounded. Firefighters found flames in the dry goods department near the south front entrance as dense smoke hindered location. glass front fell, allowing air to fan the blaze, which rapidly enveloped the entire structure.

Rev. Goldsmith conducts morning and evening services for the quarterly conference at Rock Creek on Saturday at 7 30. Revival meetings run all week with Evangelist Campbell noted for aiding a Rule meeting that closed January 21. Despite cold weather the campaign is deemed a blessing with renewed spiritual life and a larger membership. Rev. J A Murray is pastor and Rev. R N Orrill to preach at Rock Creek Sunday at 10 a m.
