Folkert Gebhardt Dies at 75 in Diller

Folkert Gebhardt 75, retired farmer, died at his home in Diller after a stroke last year and declining health. Survived by three sons Henry Pickrell Frank Ben and seven daughters including Minnie Poppen Odell Marie Ho Clara Pretz and Elsie Geisman. Funeral at St Pauls Lutheran Church officiated by Rev Moehring with burial in Prairie Home cemetery. Mrs Fowler and family recently moved to Diller and she teaches in the Diller schools.

Diller High Defeats Fairbury in Tuesday Night Action

Diller High School basketball teams hosted Fairbury in a Tuesday evening set. The varsity won its game 40 to 29 after an overtime period, while the reserve team finished 54 to 31. Odell High also featured in the night’s results.

D'tier high school declamatory contestants named

Last Monday night the D tier high school declamatory contest selected entrants to represent the school in the county event in March. Winners included Richard Haya interpretive oratory Donald Roimish humorous Elaine Schnuelle dramatic Dolores Hubka original Melvin Hubka. 14 contestants competed judged by Mrs Clarabel McDonald of Fairbury. Mel Nelson and Earl Jamison are at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Ray Hudson fell into their home in Dill er the first of the week. Mr and Mrs C Y Hiatt moved from farm east of Diller to Lincoln 1920 A St Jas Tuesday address. Mr and Mrs Donald Man bought Mrs Mary Green house near City Hall and will move soon.

March Caucus Set To Meet For City Election

A March caucus will be held on Wednesday March 3 in Fairbury City Hall. The 1947 law changed caucus timing to the Wednesday before election, replacing the eight week prior requirement for sending ballots to soldiers. The note also mentions Mosiman’s signoff from Fairbury.)

The Busy Thimble Club met at Phyllis Schnuele’s home to begin Learning To Sew. Thompson couple welcome son Mark Clark in Denver

Mr. and Mrs. Max Thompson of Denver Colorado welcomed a son born February 14. This is their second child. their first child, a son, will be three years old in July. The newborn has been named Mark Clark.

The Nebraska State Society of Long Beach California will sponsor a Mid-winter Nebraska Picnic at Bixby Park Long Beach on Saturday February 28 with Paul S Dietrich York as president. Daykin Defeats Diller As They Prep For Humboldt Clash

Daykin defeated Diller by nine points in a previous match. The basketball game scheduled for last Friday was postponed to Saturday February 21 due to heavy snowfall. Diller will play Humboldt in the Class C tournament. Humboldt has suffered three losses this season.

Mrs. Dan Garton and her niece Miss Arlene Garton hosted a Valentine themed party for Virginia Lea Garton on her ninth birthday. Twelve girls attended, seating around a table with a heart shaped cake. Virginia received many nice gifts.

Two Couples Observe Wedding Anniversaries

Friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Gar ton to honor their tenth wedding anniversary and the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Onka Lottman which occurred on February 14. In the evening lunch was served to the guests and gifts were presented to the honored couples.

Richard Hughes Guest Soloist at St Pauls Service

Richard Hughes, guest soloist, performed Sunday at St Pauls Methodist Church in Omshi. He accompanied Chancellor Knight of Nebraska Wesleyan University who delivered the morning address. Richard, son of Mr and Mrs Floyd Hughes of Feirbury, formerly Diller, is a college junior majoring in music.

Harry Patton Dies in Lincoln at Age 69

Harry Patton aged 69 died at his Lincoln home Saturday February 14 after illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday. Survivors include his son Bobbie Hays and his parents Mr and Mrs Keith Hays. The Beatrice hospital reported pneumonia and flu illnesses earlier in the week.

Beverly Hays Invited to Delta Zeta at Wesleyan

Miss Beverly Hays daughter of Keith A. Hays has been invited to pledge Delta Zeta at Nebraska Wesleyan University Lincoln. She was among 70 freshmen invited to pledge four social sororities under a new rule requiring one semester of attendance before affiliation. Hays is a Diller high school graduate and active with the YWCA at Wesleyan.

Mrs. Egbert Faxon organized the gathering on February 9 with hostess duties. Mrs. Harry Vitosh and Mrs. Mel Nelson presented a lesson titled Accessories you can make. A display showcased mittens, handbags, house slippers and a renovated feather coat.
