County Board appoints five member service board

The County Board appointed a five member county service board to oversee the county service officer functions. Esther Young drove to Lincoln to visit her mother and returned. The Woman's Society meets February 19 at 2 PM with verse from John 3. Mrs. Harry Remely leads devotions and Mr. Robert Upson conducts the lesson. Dinner guests at the orphanage included Esther Young and Richard Moore of Nebraska Wesleyan. Frank Brown sold his house this week and Sam Woods will occupy it. Mrs Feirichs fractured left wrist after a slip. Dr. Rice set the break and she recuperates at home. John Greider and Mrs Hutchinson are on the sick list with several others noted.

Notice to file final tax returns by March fifteenth

Taxpayers must file final returns by March 15. An assistant will be available at the home from March 13 to 15 to help prepare returns. Appointments can be made by calling 35 for Robert A. Green.

1948 Farm Conservation Program Underway in Jefferson County

County and community committee men met with Mr. Esston Hanson to review practices for 1948. Eligible options include terraces, waterways, livestock water dams, erosion control, wood eradication, green manure crops, tree planting, windbreaks, and permanent cover. Signing deadline is April 1 1948 with farm Worksheet required. no farm visits this year due to funds. Special notices issued to landowners. Local shoe store ad ends the notice.

Diller High Boosts Wins In Plymouth Tournament

Diller High School basketball beat Endicott 30 to 24 for consolation at Plymouth Pioneer Conference tourney. Tuesday they defeated Steele City 44 to 5 with reserves, and Regulars won 43 to 21. Diller has won five of six, led by high scorer Tee Man.

Plymouth and Reynolds capture Pioneer Conference title

Plymouth defeats Reynolds 41 to 20 in the Pioneer Conference Tournament final on Plymouth Court to claim the championship. Daykin TM beats Steele City 2 34 for third place, Diller defeats Endicott 30-24 for fifth, with all games on Plymouth Court. C Steffen takes second in Barn Remodeling contest receiving a $7.50 trade certificate from Beatrice Times sponsors.

Beatrice Office Activated Under Organized Reserve

The Beatrice sub-office of the Organized Reserve has been activated with Master Sgt Teéb kin in charge. The office is housed on the second floor of the U.S. Post Office building.
