Thieves Steal Car From Steele City Garage

Mr and Mrs Floyd Hughes lost their automobile from Kerstings garage in Steele City on a Sunday night. Tools and gasoline were taken from the U P tool house. The stolen car was found abandoned on a Crete street after four hundred miles of rough use.

Will Fox Severely Burned In Weed Burning Incident

Will Fox a Burlington relief section foreman at Byron suffered severe burns when his clothing caught fire while burning weeds along the right of way. He was taken to the hospital at Superior and is expected to be confined for several weeks. Mrs Fox traveled to Superior this evening by train.

Pine tree sent from Warroad supervisor to Mrs Scott Miller

A pine tree sent by Dick Willems, a forest supervisor from Warroad Minnesota, arrived after the Miller family tree was decorated. Mrs Miller placed the remembrance on the Willems family lot in the cemetery as a holiday decoration.

Navy man Keith Johnson visits Diller for holidays

Keith Johnson, a sailor in the U S Navy, arrived in Diller on Wednesday evening from the west coast to spend a few days with his parents Mr and Mrs Frank Johnson and other relatives. He will report back for duty leaving Diller January 2.

Fire At Fanders Garage Causes Blaze In Work Room

Dede Fanders reports a fire starting Monday from a short circuit in a switch attached to woodwork near a double window in his garage work room. Wind from the north aided the blaze before anyone was inside, and a customer noticed smoke. Investigation showed the fire had taken hold in the box window frame.

Resignation of Jefferson County Agent Ends County Service

No County Agent Victor M. Rediger has tendered his resignation as county agricultural agent for Jefferson county. He has served the county for three years. The voters turned thumbs down on maintaining the agent by taxation in the November election, and an effort to raise sufficient funds by subscription failed.

Carl T. Curtis Nebraska's 4th District elected congressman will participate in a coast to coast CBS broadcast Saturday December 31 from 4 30 to 5 30 P M est.
