Saturday Basketball Game at City Hall

A basketball game is scheduled for Saturday night in the city hall. Mr and Mrs E F Oaks are visiting their son Alfred and family in Shilling Minn. Mrs O F Rigdon returned on No 16 from Colorado after visiting her sister. The Methodist ladies plan an annual bazaar social and supper in the church basement tomorrow night. Mrs S J Thompson hosted a six o clock dinner Monday for her daughter Pearl’s 10th birthday with Eleanor Deihy Elizabeth Starr and Lucile Sparks as guests. The D of H will elect new officers tomorrow afternoon and conduct other business. A full attendance is requested.

Charley Fisher Sale Notice And Local Notes

Charley Fisher has bills out for his sale December 18. The record notes a cold morning with the mercury at four below zero. Mrs. H E Diller and daughter Gertarde visited in Beatrice Wednesday. A. Mayborn traveled to Omaha to buy cattle for farmers near Harbine and Lanham. Bert Etchison bought several horses at the start of the week. F M McManes, formerly of Diller now in Sidney, Nebr., sends a letter. publication planned next week. Captain E J Murfin visited Lincoln Sunday with his sister Mrs E L Loock and may be recalled to Washington for military duty.

The Hampton Court Singers delivered a fine entertainment in the opera house on Monday night as part of the Diller Lecture Course numbers.

Bazaar At M E Church Set For December 8

The M E church ladies plan an annual bazaar in the church basement on Saturday afternoon and evening December 8. All women are asked to donate to the fancy work and apron department. The Diller Red Cross sewing and bandage circles meet Wednesdays with plans to adjust the meeting day. Over 500 surgical dressings have been prepared along with other work.

Dist 66 school, 34 miles north of Diller and near Harbine, hosts a Red Cross benefit pie social Friday night December 14. Proceeds support relief efforts and community welfare in the district.

Mrs Mary Miller traveled from Lincoln to visit her daughters for Thanksgiving and was detained by illness of granddaughter Twila Neely who was improving when she left.

Local Farmer Ordered To Appear Before Council

Anton Saathoff, a wealthy farmer near Steele City, was commanded to appear at Lincoln before the council of defense to explain alleged remarks attributed to him. A pie social and program in Dist. No. 89 south of town drew a good attendance and much merriment from the pie sales. The program was noted as especially pleasing.
