Softball Tournament Draws Large Crowds
A four day softball tournament opened with big crowds and strong attendance night two. Tuesday results saw Diller 13 Endicott 6 and DeWitt 14 Beatrice 3. Wednesday action had Jansen 22 Plymouth 5 and Odell 7 DeWitt 3 with semi finals set for Thursday. Grand finals Friday night at 9 and 8.00.

Injured In Automobile Crash At Rural PWF Crossing
A serious crash occurred Tuesday at the dangerous PWF crossing near Herbert Barber's corner three miles west of the Diller cemetery. Mr and Mrs Kujath of near Daykin and their son and two grandchildren were en route to Paul Kujath's home. An elderly Steele City driver, returning from Steele City after visiting Dr Morgan, struck their car. Several occupants were seriously injured, with the Steele City driver hospitalized in Steele City and the Kujath family taken to Fairbury. The Sr Mr Kujath is reported in serious condition.

Diller Band Receives Compliments From Picnics Crowd
The Diller Band earned many compliments from employers after busy picnic season. A letter from L R Vejraska of Odell Picnic committee praises their excellent playing and appearance. They performed in Barneston Odell Blue Springs Diller Beatice County Fair and Fairbury Music Festival and will play at Kittenball tournament in Diller this week. They plan midwinter concerts and invite community players to join the new class organized by Mr Ingalsbe.

Lincoln Brigades Unite at State Legion Convention
Meats his buddies Mr and Mrs Scott Mier and children were in attendance at the State American Legion Convention in Lincoln Tuesday. They enjoyed the parade and drum and bugle corps demonstrations at the University Coliseum. Scott attended a company reunion at the Lincoln Hotel. He served with Co 356 ambulance corps of the 314th Sanitary Train 89th division. The company, once 150 Lincoln and Omaha youths, dwindled to 73 after ninety six days on the firing line. twenty seven original members attended the reunion.

Mrs. John Sible born Bessie Broz in Sedlac Bohemia June 28 1876 died August 24 1939 aged 63 years 1 month 26 days. She married John Sible November 22 1899 near Crab Orchard and they lived 40 years at their present home. Survived by husband three daughters Mable Grone Odell Erma and Sylvia at home two grandchildren five sisters and five brothers. Funeral was at the family home August 27 conducted by Rev Fiechel with burial at Odell cemetery Waggoner Brothers in charge.
