The office reports that 1950 wheat acreage allotments will not determine eligibility for price supports or other 1950 commodities, including corn. Operators may combine land under different ownership if managed as a single unit, with written landlord consent required for combination.
Homer Brank county clerk has announced the following tax levies for 1949-50 based on budgets submitted to the county and valuations of the various towns and school districts.
County Superintendent G. T. Boone calls all Jefferson county school board members to the first meeting at Fairbury High School on August 1 at 8:00 pm. The session aims to organize and study county schools and develop district plans following the state legislation.
Miss Fern Ratzlaff daughter of Mr and Mrs Jake F Ratzlaff of San Jose California wed Harold Rempel son of Mr and Mrs Peter O Rempel of Fairbury at the San Jose Grace Baptist church on August 6 After a brief honeymoon the couple will reside on a farm near Fairbury Mrs Rempel taught the primary department of the Ditler schools last year and her parents formerly lived near Herbine Also noted Mr and Mrs Leonard Richardson and son and Lawrence with Mr and Mrs Joe Nippert returned from a two week West Coast trip visiting relatives in South Dakota Oregon Washington Idaho and Nebraska They toured Longview Washingtons lumber and saw mine and saw wildlife snowy mountains and wheat fields returning home with one car scratch from bears.

Margaret Holthan of Steinauer married Eldred Carpenter in Salem Evangelical church Steinauer on August 7. The ceremony featured Gilbert Richardson on nuptial music and a three tier pink and white cake. Couple plans to reside at 539 West Ella Beatrice after a Colorado wedding trip.
