Ben Hall Jr. of the O. A. Cooper Company moves from Diller to Humboldt to supervise a expanded territory from Lincoln south and east into Iowa. The promotion shifts the eastern duties to the previous holder and likely brings a local promotion for the Hall family.
Bill Leask County YMCA secretary attended the Pioneer track meet at the park on Tuesday afternoon. Competitors included Endicott Reynolds Plymouth Steele City and Diller. The event was postponed from last Saturday due to bad weather.
Ray S. Wilfley and Frank L. Spear of the Fairbury Kiwanis Club visited Diller yesterday evening to plan a jamboree slated for next Monday night. The Fairbury group enjoys trips to nearby rural towns for meals and fellowship.
Diller ladies Mrs. S. Miller Mrs. C. Hiatt Mrs. C. Steffen and Mrs. L. M. Cavett attended a Fairbury Women’s Club drama program. Mrs. Hiatt spoke on a travelogue about Old London ahead of the King’s Coronation. Tea followed with Mrs. Wylie supervising. other readings and piano solo closed the event.
All district staff vote to remain on the payroll for another year with exceptions for Mrs Schindler and Miss Hamel in English and music and the 3rd and 4th grade teachers.
R A Lamborn of Beatrice representing the First Mortgage Acceptance Corporation of Omaha visited on Wednesday and called on his late relative Richard Mayborn during his stay in town.

George Andrews of St. Joseph called in from a Diller visit last Saturday. He is considering returning to Diller in August if he can secure a house.

Mr and Mrs Turner of Wilber visited Thursday and spent the day at the home of their friends Dr and Mrs Ellis. Mrs Turner and Mrs Ellis were girlhood chums.
Mrs Caldwell of Garden City Kansas visited last Saturday at the home of her son Lawrence Caldwell and his family with friends in the neighborhood.
Mr and Mrs Verle Green arrived from Powell Wyoming last Friday to visit relatives in the vicinity and expect to start back tomorrow.
Mr. and Mrs. Scott Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hiatt traveled to Fairbury Tuesday evening to attend a county American Legion and Auxiliary meeting.
A new machine shop for the Geer Brothers is under construction just south of the gas station. H. E. Green and Arthur Grone are handling the carpenter work on the project.

Sheriff Dunn of Gage County says Lloyd Downs was arrested in Colfax Washington last week and is believed to be one of the men who robbed Lanham State Bank on July 15 1929 escaping with 700 while Mr and Mrs W C Wieters were alone in the bank The other suspect is Howard Vernon of Fairbury who is now serving a life term for an Iowa bank robbery
Mr and Mrs Harry Allen of Piller and Miss Ella Goth with Mr Harvey Meils of Steele City traveled to Westpoint Nebraska to visit Ella Goths sister. They returned Sunday evening describing a severe snowstorm en route.
Like the rest of Nebraska, the vicinity faced strong winds and dust with no rain or snow. Yards were littered with broken tree limbs and branches while the thermometer hovered near the freezing point at the start of the week.
The Boyes players presented a three act comedy The G Man to a full house last Tuesday. The crowd enjoyed the performance and praised the troupe as superior to the average town show. They will return in two weeks.
Rev and Mrs Pyche traveled to West Point Nebraska for the week. Their daughter Ruth visited for the weekend and returned with her parents. A married daughter also resides in West Point.

The double ring ceremony was led by Rev H H Pyche. The couple plan to reside in Diller after a short honeymoon and will be at home after May 5th.
Mil dred Mayborn of Glenrock Wyoming is engaged to Gordon D Dick of Glenrock. The couple plans to marry in June. Mayborn belongs to Phi Mu sorority and Mu Phi Epsilon fraternity. she studied at Berea College. The announcement was made at a Casper Wyoming dinner in the Crystal ballroom.
Miss Lydia Krebs daughter of Emil and Mrs Krebs of near Diller wed Lester Mann son of Clarence and Mrs Mann near Ellis. The ceremony was held last Saturday evening April 24 at the Presbyterian parsonage in Beatrice with Rev. McGowen officiating. Miss Krebs teaches at Harbine school. Mr Mann works at Storecraft factory in Beatrice. The bride will commute to finish the Harbine school year.
Announcement in the Sunday Journal-Star notes the approaching marriage of Miss Melva Carico to Ray Stutzman of Gothenburg. The wedding is set for June 20 and the couple will live in Gothenburg where Stutzman works for the Dodge and Plymouth Motor Company. Miss Carico is the only daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Carico of Lincoln and the granddaughter of Mr and Mrs John Carico of Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. Evert Schipper Sr. mark their 50th wedding anniversary on May 7 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rolf Beckman in Diller. Open house from 2 to 4 PM invites friends and neighbors to share the occasion.
Mr and Mrs O J Mayborn left Wednesday noon by Burlington for Akron Ohio to attend their son red wedding which will occur Saturday.
Benjamin Clausson son of H J and Minnie Clausson was born June 4 1875 in Peoria Illinois and died April 26 1937 at 61 years 10 months and 22 days from a heart attack. He moved with family to Nebraska in 1880 and lived near Diller later moving to Rock Creek then Diller. Survived by two sisters Minnie Clausson of Diller and Mrs Bruce McCreight of Fairbury one brother John Clausson of Diller one niece and three nephews. parents and one sister Hannah predeceased him. Funeral April 28 1987 at Waggoner's Funeral Home with Reverend Wolff officiating. Interment Prairie Home Cemetery. Mrs S B Viers entertained the N C S A club at her home on Wednesday April 21. In the absence of the president the vice president Mrs Fry presided. Miss Gretchen Wohlfarth was initiated into the club and prizes were awarded to Mrs Fee Mrs Cecil Ellis and Mrs A A Eick. A day at the circus entertainment and a later saffron fruit service followed. Guests included Mrs Cecil Ellis of Chester Mrs Ludington Mrs Sinkey Mrs R Schindler and Mrs W A Schindler and Darrel Lee. The club will meet with Mrs Sparks at her Liberty home.
Saturday April 24 an evening gathering surprised Mrs Herbert Barber at her home with forty neighbors arriving around 8pm. The party featured games music and refreshments with sandwiches and pie served late. Everyone wished Elva Mary many more happy birthdays.
Mrs Will Abrends entertained the NBC club at her home last Thursday afternoon with embroidery on a quilt for Mrs Resmi. Dainty refreshments concluded the event. The next meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday May 4 at Mrs Henry Saathoff’s home.
The Hope Reform church youth troupe rehearses for a play to be staged Friday evening May 7 at the Harbine schoolhouse. The cast includes Ervin Shutte Elmer Krebs Amanda Achtemeier Zerelda Kuper Viola Krebs Vernon Schneuke Velma Sixel Harold Achtemeier Leona Klemme Ralph Achtemeier.
