Educational Day includes school art displays programs tests and a town band concert. Rural schools compete in athletics after the concert with a schedule: 9 30 to 10 45 rural program 10 45 to 12 30 scholastic contests 12 30 to 1 45 picnic at park or 1 45 to 2 45 gymnasium 2 45 athletic contests at the ball park.
John G. Wiese and daughter Mrs. Wieting of Meadow Grove Nebr stopped in Diller for a brief visit on their Lincoln to Meadow Grove trip. He recalled his Harbine Diller years and his memory of the July 4 1884 cyclone that damaged buildings including the skating rink at L P Raymond's harness shop.

Mr and Mrs Lorenz Williams and the latter's mother who went to southern California four weeks ago arrived last Monday and left Wednesday for their home in Pembina North Dakota Lartey is a brother of Mrs Scott Miller.
Virgil Geer was operated on for appendicitis at Odell General Hospital Tuesday morning and is progressing. He has suffered bouts of appendicitis for some time.

Dr and Mrs Ellis visited Sunday in Washington Kansas with Mrs Ellis cousin Mr and Mrs Will Tilden.
The Diller Woman's Club will meet Wednesday evening April 28 at eight o'clock. Mrs D Fanders hosts. Leader Miss Dorothy Barta speaks on Japan with a roll call on gardens and political situation. Dorothy Barta presents Japanese art display and drill by Little girls. Members bringing articles made in Japan urged for display.
Mrs. Clarence Hiatt received from London a copy of The Coronation magazine detailing the forthcoming coronation of King George. An acquaintance from wartime days sent the paper and several local ladies like Maggie and Jiggs wish to attend the ceremony.
The post office department sponsors Air Mail Week in Nebraska from April 25 to 30. It presents slogans declaring air mail the aristocrat of the mail service, that it costs 30 more, arrives first, is opened first, commands attention, and stimulates action to use air mail.
A Fairbury audience returns to view the film May Time with Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy at the Bonham theater on Tuesday, praising the vivid color and fascination of the production.

Kansas guests Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klusman and Mr Ed Wehling from Nash ville Kansas traveled to Nebraska to visit Mrs. Anna Wehling in Beatrice Hospital. Tuesday evening a luncheon was served at John Wehling’s home with extended family and friends, including Eddie Wehling and many Klusman and Wehling relatives. The party stayed overnight with Mrs. John Wehling and left for southern Kansas early Thursday morning.
Mr. McGinnis, Lincoln architect, visited Diller on Wednesday to review land for the Protestant Orphans Home and meet trustees J. Smith Diller Cal Waggoner and Mrs. Lillie Colman who came from Fairbury for the meeting to discuss furnishing building plans.
Mrs. Cecil Ellis and her son arrived from Chester on Monday and are staying at her mother Mrs. Dora Wohlforth’s home with other relatives. Her husband will join them for the weekend and they will return home afterward.
Mrs Joe Greenwood and daughter in law Mrs Leslie Greenwood of Fairbury and a daughter Mrs Nash of Detroit plus another daughter in law from Council Bluffs visited relatives and friends in Diller on Wednesday afternoon.
Miss Helen Fasnacht is back home after two weeks in Fairbury under a doctor's care. She has had a significant struggle but is now well again.
Mrs Earl Weigel, recently taken to a hospital for treatment due to illness, is improving and expected to be at home this weekend.
A brief notice from the Father and Son banquet honors local athletes from D. H. 8S for their achievements. The ceremony celebrated effort and sportsmanship among young competitors.
Jefferson County Home Demonstration clubs held an achievement program in Fairbury on April 19. Activities included community singing, home demonstration reviews, panel discussions, a playlet, musical readings, and exhibits. Flowers and carnations were presented to club presidents and leaders by the Farm Bureau.
The Fairbury Kiwanis club sponsors the third annual county grade school track and field meet in Fairbury City Park at 2 PM on Friday April 30. About twenty entries compete with ribbons for each place, medals for top point getter, and pennants for the four leading schools chaired by Sam Gallamore.
Mrs Christie Seaman hosted Sunday dinner for guests including Mr and Mrs H Z Diller of Lincoln Mr and Mrs Willis Clark and Carolyn and Mr and Mrs Wm Weers.

Chas Hilder returned home from hospital last Friday and remains ill. doctor advised rest and a light diet at home.
