Philip Svoboda lists oats and work horses for sale. Miss Gretchen Wohlfarth purchased a Chevrolet coupe. Miss Lucile Packer will close her school in District No. 106 two miles south of Ellis today.
Mr and Mrs Albert Lukes returned Sunday from visiting at their old home in the Virginia area.
Mrs George Riddle went Saturday to join her husband at Sycamore Springs. They are expected home the latter part of this week.
Mrs. Jane Brennis and family from Hollenberg Kansas including Mary Frank Kate and Gilbert joined J A Marechal and Mrs Myrtle Northup for dinner on Sunday at their home.
Clark's Cash Produce Market advertises hens and roosters priced at 10 cents, eggs at 2 cents, cream at 3 cents. Market located at Seasior Building invites customers to bring produce and visit today as listed.
Mr and Mrs Henry Wolters Jake Wolters and Henry Siebell of Harbine went to Omaha on Saturday and rode the train to New York City where they will sail for a six month visit to their old homes in Germany aboard a steamer.
On Sunday April 18 Mrs E McCune hosted a dinner at Hilton Street in surprise honor of Mr McCune on his fourth birthday. Guests included Mr and Mrs Roy McCune Mr and Mrs Chas McCune Orville McCune William Bowers Mr and Mrs Wm Barton Mrs Riddle Mr and Mrs J A Pickard and Mr and Mrs Guy Hill and son Arthur of Beatrice. Guests visited in the afternoon and returned home late.
An eight pound girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Nickeson on the 26th. Ira Place mentions their baby has been ill for a couple of days.
Mr and Mrs D V Fanders drove Sunday afternoon to Filley to visit at Millard Thompson's where Mrs Thompson lies quite weak after a second paralytic stroke.

Miss Mildred Richardson will close her school in the Weigel district two miles south of Diller today and will teach next year in the Bethel district in Gage county two miles east of her current location.

The Board of Education has completed hiring the next year's teaching quota for Diller schools, listing Supt. Vasta, Carleton H. Springer, E. Parker, Gladye M. Babcock, Gladys Patterson, Rachael Albright, Lucile E. Meeks, Grace Fitzpatrick and Flossie Raymond for specific grades and the high school.
Mrs J E Pierce and daughter Nellie hosted a large shower for Mildred Puterbaugh of Ellis who will wed Frank Will of Lincoln on May 5. Guests enjoyed musical numbers by local girls, presented a red heart decorated tub filled with gifts, and a 5 PM lunch was served.

John F Meyers barn burned in rural Dill er area early Tuesday about 3 a m. The 62 by 62 foot building housed hay oats and horse stock and was insured for 1000 with Jefferson Co Assessment Association. Loss covered by insurance and adjusted by 3 pm. The blaze caused major farm disruption during the busy season and a nearby Buick near miss was noted.
