Educational Day Set for Diller Public Schools

Diller public schools finalize plans for Educational Day next Friday. Eight or ten rural schools expected to participate. Forenoon program at the school house from 9 30 to noon followed by a picnic lunch at park or gym. Diller’s band to perform an hour after lunch. Afternoon athletic contests close the day. Reverend Mrs Teckhaus of Wayne Dies in Nebraska

Mrs Teckhaus Word passed away last week. She and her husband Rev Teckhaus served St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Diller from 1913 to 1920. After leaving Diller they moved to Wayne Nebraska where he led the parish. Funeral services for Mrs Teckhaus were held in Wayne on Tuesday April 21.

Fire hits Falls City building housing Wiemers and feeder store

Alpha Wiemers rushed to Falls City after a fire of unknown origin swept through the upper rooms of the building that houses Wiemers Implement. The blaze caused only water damage to the Wiemers portion, while other occupants suffered about 10000 in damage. Cordia Wiemers oversees the family interests in Falls City.

Diller Family Visits Lincoln Relatives in Iowa Trip

Mr and Mrs N V Diller and their young daughter from Chicago visited Lincoln relatives. Neal spent the day visiting then returned to Lincoln and Chicago. Mrs Diller and Dalice stayed longer with relatives and planned to return to Chicago on Thursday.

Mayor Snyder Recovers From Severe Heart Attack

The city reports Mayor W A Snyder is slowly recovering after a severe heart attack on Friday night and will be incapacitated for a brief period while convalescing at home.

Sun Day Evening Opera Program by Diller Club Musicians

Will Clean up Delinquent Taxes in Jefferson County

The county treasurer compiles a list of delinquent Jefferson County taxes four or more years in arrears including 1931. By July 1, 1936, the list will go to the district court. Certificates may be held two years before foreclosure sales, with clear title to purchasers and no redemption after sale. The scavenger law is not used due to hardship. under the old law owners have two years to pay before sale to the highest bidder.

County Soil Conservationists Organize Jefferson County

County soil conservationists organize a county association in Fairbury with officers for 1936 led by Milt Coffman as chairman and Lee Dragoo as vice chairman. The group adopts articles of association, with E M Luther explaining them, and the Jefferson County Farm Bureau will elect permanent officers on Saturday April 26 at the Fairbury courthouse.

Wheat payments 21 cents to Jefferson County farmers

Payments of 21 cents per bushel will be issued to Jefferson County wheat farmers who filed contracts and adjusted seedings before January 6, 1986. The full settlement settles the Secretary of Agriculture's obligation for those who followed wheat adjustment contract requirements. Funds relate to the 1936 agricultural conservation program with no right to Soil Conservation Program participation. Payments will begin months later as compliance is secured.
