Thieves pried the Black Bres elevator in Diller and stole nearly 200 bushels of wheat and oats. R J Bazant found the hasp broken and an empty box with black tape inside. The grain is insured but Bazant aims to catch the culprits.
Bernard L Patton and Cleo Patton write from Camp Rucker Alabama to thank for the Diller Record. They relocated from California arriving March 28. Bernard serves in the 134th Infantry 35th Division US Army with a new address at P O 35 Camp Rucker Alabama.
The Diller Girl Reserves joined the G R conference in Fairbury on March 17 and 18. Highlights included a candlelight ceremony a program by each unit and a talk titled Girls place in the War led by Ruth Newton. An overnight stay followed a wiener roast skating and a church service with sponsors before a hotel dinner to close.
Nine teams have entered and more may come for the Diller Town and Field Meet set for April 27 at 1 30 pm Local schools under 160 enrollment have until Saturday to confirm participation DeWitt Plymouth Barne ston Holmesville Lewister Steele City Endicott Reynolds are already signed up The meet serves as a state qualifying event with individual winners advancing to the state meet May 13 and 14.
