A small vote was cast for village trustees with Moser 62 Geer 63 Green 4 Clauson 5 and scattering 4. For school trustees two seats for three years went to Diller 49 Milow 47 Viers 41 Clark 25. Incumbents retiring are Clauson and Green on the village board and Viers and Diller on the school board.

Band concert April 28th and local notices

The record entry notes a band concert on April 28 and includes assorted town updates. Dr Mayborn made a business trip to Lincoln on Wednesday. Wilbur Green moved into the Phillips property in the town’s south part. John Greider will travel to Lincoln Monday to serve as a federal court juror. Mrs E E McCune visited her son Charles west of town while Mr McCune attended a Missouri funeral. R F Starr of Prudential Insurance spent a few days at home in Diller. Several local residents, including Marion Diller and Miss Margaret Gretzinger, spent spring vacation with relatives. Louie Wehling’s brooder house and about 300 chicks were lost to fire, neighbors aiding in containment. Wehling thanks them.

Bank Robbery at First National Selreeny

Bandits robbed the First National Bank at Selreeny on a Tuesday morning taking about 27 643 13 in cash and 100 000 in Liberty bonds with 22 000 in other funds. Officers and bystanders were shunted to the floor. a woman customer fled and alerted the sheriff. A submachine gun battle wounded Deputy Sheriff Davidson and Peter Johnson as robbers fled with hostages. A pursuing pistol shot wounded Keith Sexton while others escaped. The gang left a briefcase with Kansas license plates and a revolver. Suspects believed headed toward Kansas City for a rendezvous. Palm Sunday noted next day. local social note included.
