County Commissioner Homer Yeakle visited with friends in Diller Sunday afternoon. A sale notice notes a big work mare available. J. Thompson and tr. W. A. Raymond referenced in casual local chatter. Butter Milk starter mentioned for chicken care.

Dr. L. A. Powell of Adams Nebr offers a store room for rent in Diller with repair and reasonable terms. Cecil Ellis and Dale Reinhardt dental students at the State University Lincoln spent Easter vacation at their home in the city.

Mr and Mrs Hollenberger and their daughter Mrs W S Filley wife of the station agent visited here for several weeks and returned Sunday to their home in Kansas City.
Averil Fouts and Grace Luffkin after Easter vacation at Diller home returned Monday to Lincoln to resume studies at State University.
Miss Grace Myers and her friend Miss Edith Wrigley spent Easter at Myers home in Diller and returned Monday to Lincoln where Myers will resume studies at the State University.

George R. McDonald a former Diller public schools teacher who succeeded Supt Grimes in spring 1910 died in an Omaha hospital March 27. He came to Diller from McCook schools taught at Beatrice Northwestern Business College and later was general manager of Commonwealth Life Insurance. His wife and two children Raymond and Anita survive him.
Raymond A L Tristman builds an addition to his residence on a farm a mile north of town. Farmers report oats sown and potatoes planted, with corn plowing underway and hope for timely rain to aid early gardens.
Mr and Mrs W E Mudge head home from Hot Springs Ark after a winter away. Leonard Richard son couple greet a party at their new Diller area farm home. Miss Marie Stotts and Miss Schenck return to DeWitt after Easter visits. Arthur Grune travels to Hebron Bruning and Geneva for an estate sale of 240 acres in Fillmore county fetched 28000. Mr Groner returns home.
Beuford Bell, a Peru High School senior, came back on the early morning train after visiting his parents Mr and Mrs H A Bell since Thursday of last week. He has taught one and a half terms in country schools and was principal at Phillips for one year, and is still too young for the draft. The community feels proud of its schools and of his early achievement.
Mrs. F. W. Beckwith reports her son Paul S. Beckwith recovering from a severe pneumonia at a naval hospital in Boston where an operation removed part of a rib. The aviator had trained at MIT and served as an motors instructor before illness. he expects to resume work soon as strength returns.
A Studebaker carrying A L Tinstman and C E K Reinhardt skidded on a bridge abutment near R L Oaks farm north of town. The car overturned into a ravine but occupants escaped with no serious injuries as the ditch allowed their release.

Rev H W Wagner and Mrs Wagner with Miss Charlotte Lpock of Diller and Miss Grace Eilis of Rock Creek travel by auto to Friend Neb to attend the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society district convention. The text also notes Liberty Loan quotas for the eleventh district and Gage Jefferson counties. Jefferson plans a Monday committee meeting in Fairbury to allocate precincts.
The Presbyterian choir presented an Easter cantata last Sunday to a crowded house. Regular services resume next Sunday at Fairbury's Presbyterian church with 11 am and 8 pm services. The annual congregational meeting follows morning worship with officers to elect and reports to present.
Easter Sunday at the Methodist Church featured morning exercises at ten o'clock, described as short yet very good, reflecting a hopeful service.
William Van Swain died Thursday in Beat Rice hospital at age fifty five. Funeral services were conducted at the First Christian church in Beatrice by Rev. C. F. Stevens. Interment followed at Evergreen Home cemetery. He had lived near Diller since 1892 and was in poor health. Survived by his father William Swain of Odessa Missouri a brother James Swain and two sisters.
