Wooster scholar dies in Mt Eaton car crash
Norman P. Schaffter 18, son of Mr and Mrs Harry Schaffter Mt Eaton, and Wooster College sophomore, died after a single vehicle crash on Rt 250 near Apple Creek. He was to enter the Naval Academy next month. He was valedictorian of Paint Township High School and a member of St Pauls Evangelical church. Funeral services were held at Desuvignes funeral home with burial in West Lawn Cemetery.

Intruder Stopped by Rifle in Downtown Apartments
An intruder sneaked into the hall of the Howard Bell and C. R. Ressler families early Sunday near 3 a.m. He lit matches, found a door ajar, and hid behind curtains. When confronted, he faced a 22 rifle held by Mr. Ressler and fired at the stairs, grazing them before fleeing.
