Wayne County Sportsmen Report on 1938 License Fees

The Wayne County Sportsmen's Committee reports 1938 license fee totals of 1593.25 dollars from hunting and fishing licenses. Bluffton College Vesper Choir to Sing at Salem Church

Milwaukee man wrecks two cars in wet snow on street

D. M. Cooper of Milwaukee Wisconsin skidded on a wet snow covered street Saturday and struck A. M. Buchwalter's parked car near Camp's service station. The vehicles were towed to Haverstock and Davis garage for repairs.

Roy W. Stype Takes Over Clerk Duties After Webb’s Death

Roy W. Stype was named Clerk of Courts by the Board of County Commissioners and assumed duties Tuesday morning, succeeding the late Wellington Webb who died last Saturday. Lucile Tschantz of Bluffton was elected secretary of Bluffton College YWCA, with new cabinet officers to assume duties in May. Miss Techantz, a freshman, is Amos Techantz’s daughter.

Ohio sportsmen to convene in Columbus in March

The League of Ohio Sportsmen will hold its annual convention in Columbus on March 27 and 28. An Ohio maple festival in Geauga County runs March 23 to 26 to showcase maple products. Government data show 4,260,081 aliens settled in the U.S. for permanent residence from 1931 to 1939. February old age pensions totalled 2,509,418 across 111,337 recipients, averaging 22.54. Arbor and Bird Day is proclaimed for March 31 by Gov. Bricker. Secretary Earl Griffith receives praise for even staff distribution.

Miss Mildred Kruschenske of Columbus visited her parents Friday and Saturday. Veryl Horst returned Monday from Massillon City Hospital improved. Mr and Mrs E C Gonter and daughter Myrna finished a two week motor trip to Florida. Mr and Mrs C W Plance and Mr and Mrs L Plance with son George visited the Mans family at Pearl Ohio and the Miller family at Walnut Creek on Sunday.

Orrville Printer Hangs Self in Garage

Frank Fries a 47 year old Orrville printer at Courier Publishing Co hanged himself in the garage of his home last Wednesday afternoon after leaving to deliver a newspaper to his mother. He suffered months of financial distress and is survived by his wife mother and three sisters. Funeral services were held at St Agnes Church with burial in Crown Hill cemetery.

Joseph Tyrrell Dies in Dalton After Fall

Joseph Tyrrell aged 69 died Monday after a fall at his Dalton home fracturing his skull. He was deaf and unable to talk for years, blind since childhood, and survived by sister Mrs Winifred Boyd of Saginaw and many nieces and nephews. He lived with nephew William Tyrrell Sr. at the time and was born in Trumbull county arriving in Dalton 38 years ago. Funeral Thursday at 2 p.m. at Murray Stockham funeral home with Rev H F Patterson officiating. Burial in Dalton Cemetery.

Clerk of Courts Wellington Webb Dies in Wooster

Wellington Webb died at 2 30 PM Saturday at Kinney and Smith hospital in Wooster after weeks of illness. The first term clerk of courts, formerly a Wooster drug store employee, is survived by brothers Lake and George Webb and sister Mrs Pearl Rhodes, all of Wooster. Funeral services were held Monday. burial was in Wooster Cemetery.

The F F A and Y F A annual party will feature Adult Men and Women Classes and takes place Friday evening March 24 at the high school with Rev Tuck of Wooster as speaker. A U P church missionary society was formed at Mrs D R McAfee home with A R Keirn president Grace Amstuir vice president and Mary Haustenstein secretary treasurer. They will meet the third Tuesday each month next at Mrs Merlé Douglas.
