Tractor-Trailer Crashes Into Home Damaging Hoyman Residence
A tractor pulling a steel laden trailer plowed into the living room of Edward J Hoyman and wife just off route 30 after colliding with a car at the route 30 intersection. Driver James R Jewell 23 Summittville was injured his right arm and later fined 15 dollars plus costs for passing a vehicle at an intersection. Fink 16 Massillon and Konen 16 North Lawrence escaped injury and were not charged.

At 9 p.m. Thursday a tractor and trailer crashed into the house of 87 year old Frank Matney and his 85 year old wife Catherine on U S Route 50 in Apple Creek. Firefighters rescued them and moved the couple on a mattress to the nearby William Knoble residence.

Peoples Federal Declares Semiannual 2 1/4 Percent Dividend
The Board of Directors of Peoples Federal Savings and Loan Association Wooster Ohio declared a semi annual dividend at 2 1/4 percent payable June 30 1949 on all savings accounts. President Fred Shibley noted assets around 13.8 million with strong cash and U S Bond holdings of 2.8 million and reserves about 940 thousand. The 2 1/4 percent rate is the highest in Wayne County among insured institutions and all accounts are government insured to allowed limits.
