Dalton's Old Home Town Band and Its Historic Rise

Band Concert by 11th Regiment at Band Stand

The 11th Regt band will give a concert at the band stand Saturday night at 8 15. The program features Herbert Clark’s Triumphal March Orpheus Offenbach selections Intermezzo The Troubadour The Age of Youth March Grandiose and a March Finale. Prof Oscar Puegner directs the band.

Dalton Community Club Meeting at Sugar Creek Grange

The Dalton Community Club will meet at the Sugar Creek Grange hall Friday evening June 19 at 6 30. The Grange ladies will serve fried chicken noodles mashed potatoes dried corn buns butter jelly radishes onions strawberry shortcake with whipped cream and coffee.

Engagement announced for Mildred Slusser and Harry Santmyer

Mrs. Holland Powell hosted a bridge party to reveal the engagement of her sister Miss Mildred Slusser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Slusser of 861 Wellman Ave. S. E, to Harry D. Santmyer of Dal ton. The couple set Friday, Aug 14 as the wedding date. Massillon Independent.

Pleasant Valley Homecoming Set at United Brethren Church

The third annual Pleasant Valley Homecoming will be Sunday June 28 at the United Brethren church with a 12 30 basket dinner and a 2 p m program. All former residents pastors teachers and scholars invited. Mary Elizabeth Kaser 77 died June 9 at her son Charles near Wilmot after winter with her daughter Mrs Rudy Horst. Four children survive. Funeral held last Friday at the Chas Easer home by Rev I J Buchwalter with P R Lantz assisting. Interment in Winesburg cemetery.

Youth Takes Bicycle From Barn During Funeral Ride

A youth identifying himself as Herbert Rudy Jr. took Jr. Williams bicycle from the Williams home barn Saturday morning. He claimed he paid 50 cents to ride to his grandmother's funeral. The boy was later tracked to southeast of town, jailed in the village lockup and then moved to the county jail.

Sunshine club to plan July picnic and games

The Sunshine class of the U P S S met with Mr and Mrs Sutton on Friday with 20 in attendance. Mrs Sutton led devotionals and Mrs Locke presided over the business session. A picnic for the third Wednesday in July was decided, with a committee named for location and games.

Vocational ag students tour historic East to Washington trip

Twenty three agricultural students and Prof D H Scott traveled by bus from Route 30 crossing the Ohio River at East Liverpool through Pittsburgh Chambersburg Gettysburg Baltimore Annapolis and Washington. They visited the Naval Academy White House Capitol Smithsonian Mt Vernon and skyline drive noting Civil War sites and national landmarks.
