The 11th Regiment band conducts a Saturday evening concert at 7 45 PM. Program includes The Screamer Lawrence Overture The Golden Dragon King Selection Czaar und Zimmerman Lortzing Grand Fantasia Rose d Amour Bleger Waltz Beautiful Ohio March The Wallabies with Prof Oscar Puegner directing.
The Dalton Dairy Judging team placed fourth among 206 teams in the state meet, not sixth as earlier listed. Members were Carl Shisler Eldon Hawk and Clare Mumaw. Eldon ranked in the top ten for both Guernseys and Holsteins, Carl in the top ten for Guernseys. Dwight Amstutz of the Crops Judging team was third in state wheat judging.
Daily program at Martin church announced for vacation Bible school. Mrs. Carl Zehner of Grantsville Md. visits Mr. and Mrs. Russell Thompson for several days. Unseasonable weather cool on first day of summer with a 43 degree night. Prof R V Bangham of Wooster College spoke to Community Club at Grange hall.
Dalton loses Charles John Denbrook Sr age in his 90s after weeks of illness. Survived by wife Fredericka two sons Charles Jr Henry both of this place two daughters Minnie Blinn Akron and Mary Brenner Rittman elev en grandchildren nine great grandchildren. Born in Germany he married Oct 25 1870 came to the United States in 1874 settled south of Orrville moved to Dalton about ten years ago. Funeral Tuesday at 2 pm from residence Rev A L Sherry officiating burial in Dalton Cemetery. Murray and Stockham, funeral directors.
Smith Service Station on east Main Street ends winter closure caused by water line work and opens to the public Saturday the 27th. The town notes include first green beans of the season and local social updates such as a Stitch and Chatter club meeting and recent visits and travels by residents.
Dr. H L Moser known as Red earned his D V M at OSU and was Potter Cup runner up and voted MVP of the 1936 baseball team. He left for Pontiac Illinois Monday to work as a veterinarian. The Llewellyn family reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs A E Schultz with 35 relatives from Cleveland Lakewood Columbus Akron Pittsburg and Dalton attending and a noon dinner served.
The Kidron Auction Co held its 2nd Millionth Dollar Sale last Thursday with thousands attending despite scattered showers. The event totalled 15 243 dollars with 102 veal calves 237 cattle 289 sheep 3200 poultry 12 horses and a pair of geldings selling for 525 dollars. Prize wins included egg throwing greased calf Swiss bell contests straw and penny hunts plus an accordion band concert.
The Crystal Springs Tabernacle Chorus directed by Dr. John Warren Erb of New York University will perform its third annual concert on Wednesday July 1 at 8 p.m. The program includes Frederic Cowen’s Rose Maiden with instrumental soloists from Massachusetts East Greenville and Justus, and soloists Harold Indorf and Orin Deal. A small admission fee to defray expenses.
