Doll Bride Gift At Funeral Show Window Auction

Mrs Bevan of Chicago donated a 20 inch Doll Bride with a full trousseau for her brother's funeral. The handmade dresses include gown veil traveling dress blue silk formal and more. The doll will be at VanDersall's window in Dalton and later auctioned by Dalton Post 5534 at the VFW carnival. Giving the Bride Away occurs Friday night July 9 at 11 o clock.

Festivals and reunions expand June events list

Festivities unfold across several towns with music by the 11th Regiment band at North Lawrence carnival on June 12. Homecoming festival and Stanwood events feature a noon picnic and afternoon games with the Brewster band on June 19. June 26 brings another Brewster Band benefit at Moffitt Heights. The Fulmer family reunion is set for Orr Park in Orrville on Sunday, June 20.

Anniversary events and wedding notices in Dalton area

The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW marks its first anniversary on Thursday June 10 with Post 5534 serving refreshments. Attendees at Earl Lester Ickes and Ruth Railly wedding include Mrs Amos Tschanitz, Mrs Harry Blosser, Mr and Mrs E F Scott, Mrs David Garver, and Miss Beatrice Brown. The Dalton Garden Club met at Mrs Donald Stahl home with plant roll call and Moonlight and Roses sung as the song of the month. Mrs James Mumaw gave a reading on The Humming Bird Returns and Mrs C K Douglas described miniature flower arrangements Red roses were placed in the traveling vase Swap night concluded the gathering.

Bible School Begins With 85 Enrolled At Grade School

The Daily Vacation Bible School opened Monday with 85 enrollments. Dean Rev. L. E. Flauhaus expects more children on the second day. Classes run 9 to 11 30 with teachers for beginners Verna Edwards and Mary Helen Steiner.

4-H Stitch and Chatter Meeting Report

The 4-H club met June 2 at 2 PM in the High School Home Ec room with Carol Graber presenting a Health topic. A sewing period followed and a ball game ended the session. Refreshments were served. The next meeting is June 10 at 2 PM in the Home Ec room. Reporter Beverly Lintern.

Honors Oldest Member As Town Hall Season Opens

At Town Hall Park Saturday night the opening band concert drew a good crowd. Ernest F. Scott, the oldest member by years and tenure, was surprised with an electric heating pad and clock from the 11th Regiment Band as thanks for faithful attendance and on his birthday anniversary. John E. Erwin presented the gifts, and Scott gave a brief acceptance speech.

Ira Tullis 75 former Dalton resident dies at home

Ira Tullis 75 died Monday at his Columbiana home after a two month illness. He lived in Dalton 15 years and worked at Berg's Dry Goods and Shoe Store. He belonged to the Presbyterian church. Survived by wife Pet son Robert Chicago and four grandchildren. Funeral held Wednesday at Frye Funeral Home at 2 P.M. burial in Columbiana cemetery.

Infant Dies in Dalton Area

Committal services were held in Dalton cemetery June 2 for the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Clare McFarren. The baby died Tuesday. Survived by parents a sister Tobey Lou at home paternal grandmother Mrs Harriet McFarren of Dalton and maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs A P Roth of Beach City.

Funeral Held For Joseph Gingerich In Ohio Strip Mine Death

The 21 year old Joseph Gingerich of Dalton was killed last Wednesday in a strip mine accident near Mt. Eaton when his left hand was caught in a drag line shovel he was greasing. Rev Reuben Hofstetter officiated at the Kidron Mennonite church service with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Menno Gingerich five brothers and five sisters living in nearby towns and at home.
