Memorial Day exercises in Dalton featured a parade led by the 11th Regiment band and a large crowd. Veterans, G A R members, and local groups decorated graves and heard Rev. William F. Freeman speak. a longer list honors Civil War to Mexican War dead from area cemeteries.
Eyes of Ohio Sunday school workers focus on Mansfield for the annual State Sunday School Convention set for June 25 to 27. Dr H. M. Hamill will give several addresses and Mrs Hamill will address issues of the little people. A German language Auxiliary Session marks a first two language program with a primary workers institute on days two and three. Prof E O Excell will lead convention music with details via Dr Joseph Clark at 79 Ruggery Building Columbus Ohio.
E. F. Scott, clerk, filed his report of the enumeration of Dalton Village School District. Report shows totals of 191 pupils with 5.00 boys and girls counts listed, indicating a small district census as recorded in the village notes.
The undersigned thanks neighbors and friends for kindness during the illness and death of her husband and for help at the funeral. Grateful also to the choir and all others who sent assistance. Ms Witt Bevarp.
William Beyard aged 75 died at his Dalton home after a two week illness. A longtime resident of Dalton he served on the board of education and earlier ran a cooper shop. Funeral Saturday at the Presbyterian church with Rev Findlay and others. burial in Dalton cemetery. Survived by wife Elizabeth Wright Beyard. three sons and a daughter had predeceased him.
Abraham Lehman of Landora Ohio visits Salem church in Sonnenberg. Sugarcreek township holds a Sunday school convention at Salem church June 20 with Rev Vorpholt speaking English. An accident at Kidron leaves David Moser unconscious but recovering. Mennonite Central District Conference to be held with Salem church voting on fall date. John Schneck tours Landora, Oma. Jacob Sommers parents welcomed a baby girl. A poor family inherits fortune and buys a small farm and livestock. Their girl notes hens may lay if they want to.
The 7th annual Dalton High School alumni banquet and meeting drew members to the School Hall reception and Goudy block banquet. President Clair McDowell led remarks, with Miss Carrie Harrold as toastmistress introducing Ada and Margaret Cully, G. J. Gardiner, Verdie Goudy, Grace Gardiner, and Ralph Morrow. Officers elected: Clayton L. Arnold president, Harry L. Kauffman vice president, Hazel Keister secretary, G. C. Freet treasurer, Mrs. W. Barnard toast mistress. The group thanked the L A Society for the banquet and planned to meet again in 026 year.
