Memorial Day Observances in Dalton Honor Veterans

Memorial Day exercises in Dalton featured a parade led by the 11th Regiment band and a large crowd. Veterans, G A R members, and local groups decorated graves and heard Rev. William F. Freeman speak. a longer list honors Civil War to Mexican War dead from area cemeteries.

Great Sunday School Program at Mansfield Convention

Eyes of Ohio Sunday school workers focus on Mansfield for the annual State Sunday School Convention set for June 25 to 27. Dr H. M. Hamill will give several addresses and Mrs Hamill will address issues of the little people. A German language Auxiliary Session marks a first two language program with a primary workers institute on days two and three. E. F. Scott, clerk, filed his report of the enumeration of Dalton Village School District. Report shows totals of 191 pupils with 5.00 boys and girls counts listed, indicating a small district census as recorded in the village notes.

Death of a Pioneer William Beyard steps down after 75 years

William Beyard aged 75 died at his Dalton home after a two week illness. A longtime resident of Dalton he served on the board of education and earlier ran a cooper shop. Funeral Saturday at the Presbyterian church with Rev Findlay and others. burial in Dalton cemetery. Survived by wife Elizabeth Wright Beyard. three sons and a daughter had predeceased him.

Dalton High School Alumni Banquet Celebrates Seventh Year

The 7th annual Dalton High School alumni banquet and meeting drew members to the School Hall reception and Goudy block banquet. President Clair McDowell led remarks, with Miss Carrie Harrold as toastmistress introducing Ada and Margaret Cully, G. J. Gardiner, Verdie Goudy, Grace Gardiner, and Ralph Morrow. Officers elected: Clayton L. Arnold president, Harry L. Kauffman vice president, Hazel Keister secretary, G. C. Freet treasurer, Mrs. W. Barnard toast mistress. The group thanked the L A Society for the banquet and planned to meet again in 026 year.
