Telegrams from Senator Pomerene and Congressman Ashbrook indicate L. C. Davison’s name has been presented to the President for the Dalton postmaster position. Appointment is expected to be confirmed today.
The Dague Richwine Oberlin reunion gathered last Wednesday at Crystal Springs with relatives from Columbus Wooster Massillon Doylestown Dalton Beach City and others. President Martin Hartgrove presided as a fine dinner and a literary program followed with addresses by Albert Oberlin Arthur Dague W H Hubbell and J S Flohr. Historian A B Oberlin noted seven deaths the past year the most since the organization began. Officers elected included President Martin Hardgrove Ruth Baird secretary treasurer and two executive committee couples. The afternoon featured social chat and horse shoe pitching with ministers joining in. A few long-time attendees were absent due to ill health.
Rev. Thomas Struggles a retired Methodist minister died at his Wadsworth home Saturday June 21 1913 after a two year illness. Born August 11 1834 in Heckington England he served as local preacher from eighteen and later as a pastor at Dalton M E Church 1874 to 1877. He is survived by his wife a daughter two sons and eight grandchildren.

Festive event at East Greenville school grounds draws attendees for strawberry and cream cake berries and other delicacies. The 1th Regiment Band will provide music as proceeds benefit a local cause.
From the Gazette files dated July 5 1888 right townships in Wayne county have voted in favor of local option. Arch Sundies returned home on the 4th to visit his mother and Dalton friends.
Dorothy Snodgrass two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Snodgrass of Barberton drank a saucer of fly poison during a visit to her parents Mr and Mrs A Aker. Dr Haney treated her promptly with antidotes and the child recovered rapidly. The family returned home the following Tuesday with no lasting harm.
L. H. Severence of Cleveland Worcester University’s greatest supporter died at 10:15 p m Wednesday after a brief illness. He visited the university last week and has contributed over a half million dollars.
Seventy five Crawford county farmers supply eggs to the Tiro co operative hatchery. The plant, 80 long, holds two rows of incubators totaling 66 000 eggs capacity. Incubation uses hot water boilers at 108 degrees. Eggs are fertility tested before placement. Each Tuesday during the March to October season, a batch of 12 000 chicks is shipped to customers across Ohio and nearby states.

A small blaze at W. O. L Haney's residence on East Main Street was detected by C. S. Wertz at eleven o'clock Tuesday forenoon. The hose company quickly controlled the fire with water and chemicals aiding W. P. Slusser and E. K. Houghton. Origin undetermined, likely from a falling spark, with dry spell heightening fire risk.
John Woods a well known farmer of Pleasant Valley died at his home from paralysis last Saturday. He was 64 years 9 months 6 days old. He lived near the old homestead most of his life. He married Sarah J. Hughs in February 1894 and had two sons Harvey and Howard. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services were held at his home Monday June 30 conducted by Rev. J. W. Findlay with interment at West Lebanon.
Elizabeth Jane Stinson died June 25 1913 aged 73 years 4 months 24 days She was eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs David Stinson born on the James Stinson farm east of Dalton later living near town She joined United Presbyterian church as a young girl and remained active Funeral held Friday at the church conducted by Rev W H Hubbell with Rev J G Madge and Rev J W Findlay assisting Music by a quartet The survivors include two sisters Mrs Bell Wynn and Mrs Anna McAfee two brothers Dr D Stinson of Sioux City IA and R J Stinson of this place plus many relatives and friends Clayton L Arnold was funeral director.

Judge Weygan on Tuesday afternoon sentenced Fleming Lehman to 18 months in the state penitentiary for failing to provide for his children. He must also pay costs. Lehman was brought to Wooster from Akron last Friday by Sheriff Van Nest, arraigned before Judge Weygant, and pled guilty to non-support.
Christian Sorensen of Wooster University presents a stereopticon lecture on Norway the Land of the Midnight Sun at the Presbyterian church Thursday July 3 at 7 30 pm. Sorensen recently won the Junior Oratorical Contest. Admission 10 cents for children 15 cents for adults. Presented under the auspices of the U E Society.
Open air meetings opened last Sabbath evening with strong attendance and ideal weather. Rev W H Hubbell led scripture and prayer, Rev M A Bucie preached on Mountain tops of Experience, Presbyterian choir provided music, Rev W H Hoover from St Louis sang four solos and closed in prayer. Services started early due to intense heat, with next Sunday planned for Rev Hubbell to preach anew.
John Flack, a farmer near Applecreek, drove to the village Saturday evening troubled by indigestion. After visiting two doctors and a dose of medicine he fell asleep in an Applecreek restaurant and could not be aroused until Sunday afternoon. He recovered by Monday.
