Dalton's 1948 sectional champion team meets its alumni in a Saturday night game on January 1. The varsity will feature starters Rozenberger Shank Steiner Evans and Graber with Sommer and Stevie. Alumni from 1947 and 1946 oppose the Dalton reserves with the reserve game set to start at 7 p.m.

New County Officials Take Office Early Next Week
The newly elected sheriff Glenn A. Rike will assume duties at 12:01 January 3. Deputies are Martin Tyrrell, Robert Biddle, and Charles J. Otto. Other new officials include Ivan Steiner as county commissioner. Probate Judge elect Myron T. Breneman will not be sworn in until February 7.

Fire Department Buys 500 Feet New Hose
The fire chief is authorized to purchase 500 feet of nylon fire hose with lightweight couplings to replace 500 feet sold to another department. The 13 year old hose cost $1.05 per foot and is being sold for 75 cents per foot. Replacement costs are expected to be lower.

Orion A. Jackson 77, longtime Orrville resident and former Orrville High janitor for 23 years, died December 26 at Mennonite Home near Attiman. Funeral services were at Orrville Presbyterian Church with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. He is survived by widow Ida Eberly Jackson, son Henry Jackson of Sterling, daughter Mrs. Herbert Amstutz, two grandchildren, a great grandchild, brother Samuel Jackson of Akron, and sister Mrs. Jesse Danner of Marshallville.

A white Christmas brought record snow and a sharp temperature drop. E. E. Edwards was moved to Beeson hospital in Wooster by Monbarren’s invalid car due to pneumonia. Mayor Kraus spoke at Rotary on the new road question. Community club prizes honored outdoor Christmas lighting with $10, $5, and $2.50 awards to Dale Goudy, W. T. Martin, and Robert Goudy respectively. Family gatherings, a barn fire near East Greenville, a hit and run arrest near Dalton, court fines, and Santa’s Christmas Eve appearance at Town Hall complete a busy holiday scene.
