Orrville Garage Destroyed in Early Fire

A $4000 fire gutted the Leroy Horst garage south of the Pennsylvania tracks on Main Street Orrville early Sunday. Fire was discovered about 4 o’clock by the night watchman. The building owned by Orrville Body Works was largely damaged and Mr. Horst, recently moved in, had no insurance. Dalton volunteers aided Orrville with a new pumper in preventing spread.

Mes siah Rendition at Salem Church in Christmas Service

The sixth annual Handel's Messiah will be performed Christmas evening at 8 o'clock by a large community chorus at Salem Mennonite Church directed by Victor Gerber with Elvera Sommer on piano and orchestral support. New features include the Amstutz Sisters Trio and several soloists. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Local floor game ended 33 to 36 with Dalton Hi defeating Apple Creek in a hot contest last Friday night. The community notes also record C R Goudy’s busy 1937 license year and a Rotary club Christmas party featuring Don and King the Great Danes for crippled children.

Mrs S B Martin Dies After Pneumonia At 85

Mrs Anna B Hoover Martin aged 85 died Sunday at 2 45 am at home after a three day illness from pneumonia. Survived by husband Samuel B Martin Sr three sons Amos H New Holland Pa Daniel J Dayton Va and Elam Dalton four daughters Elizabeth at home Mrs J E Weaver Orrville and Mrs Reuben Horst Dalton Rt 2 twenty two grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at 1 pm from home and 2 pm at County Line church Rev Benjamin Good officiating. Burial in church cemetery.
