Presbyterians Welcome New Minister With Community Reception

A large Presbyterian church reception for Rev. and Mrs. A. J. Sanders followed their Tuesday evening arrival. The V. W. class sponsored the event with music by the West End orchestra and a humorous sketch. Guests included Mr. Nussbaum who presented a bouquet and $10, and a $5 wedding gift to the couple.

Religious leaders see the world improving as radio spreads the gospel. A Radio Guide lists 52 religious programs. E How ard Cable of Indianapolis has wide coast to coast broadcasts and Sunday services heard abroad on WLW reaching about twenty million listeners. The Lutheran Hour with Rev. Walter Maier airs on 45 stations, plus Christian Science Methodist Baptist and Catholic hours, with many programs daily.

Winter Temps Fluctuate From Subzero to Fifteen Above

A week of cold weather begins with Wednesday snow and a plunge to zero Thursday. Temperatures then rise to 2 below on Saturday and 8 above on Sunday and 4 above on Monday. By Tuesday 10 above and Wednesday 20 above, a drizzle coated roads in a glare of ice.

A list of Dalton area households visited Mr. and Mrs. Allcie Hofacre for holiday gatherings. Charles F. Buchwalter of The First National Bank ordered one and five dollar Williams currency from the Cleveland Fed to meet Christmas demand. Iran Berg recalls a Wayne county fair prize hog raised by Cletus Gerber weighing 300 pounds live and 240 dressed before eight months old, with many Dalton residents helping to distribute the meat.

Boy Scout Christmas Party in Dalton Ohio

Troop No. 22 of Dalton Ohio will host its annual Christmas party for local children on December 24 at 7 30 P M in the High School Auditorium. Toys candy and entertainment are planned with invitations mailed and Scoutmaster D H Parsons in charge. Donations of candy toys money are welcome through Mr Parsons.

Dalton Warriors Rout Mt. Eaton In 53 27 Bally Game

Dalton High School beat Mt. Eaton 53 to 27 on their home floor last Friday night. It was Dalton’s second win, following a previous victory over Marshallville. Their class B record shows one loss to Rittman and one to Doylestown. They host Apple Creek this Friday the 17th.

Mrs. Clara Thompson Dies in Orrville at 71

Mrs. Clara Jane Thompson, 71, died at her Orrville home after several weeks illness. She was widow of Jason Thompson former W. and L. E. R. section foreman. Survivors: son George. daughters Mrs. Dennis Arnold Dalton Mrs. Alfred Plank Jerrysville and Mrs. John Butter Orrville. sister Mrs. Maggie Harris Diamond. Mrs Catherine Rehm Dies in Baughman Township

Mrs Catherine Elizabeth Rehm 90 widow of Jacob Rehm of Baughman township died last Wednesday evening at her daughter’s home north of Burton City. Funeral services were held Saturday at St Michael’s Lutheran church east of Marshallville with burial nearby. Geo Forrer is a brother. The item also notes local social events and community news including a Christmas program, theatre, hospital updates, and visits among residents.
