Community Christmas Party at Town Hall Square Tonight

Dalton clubs sponsor a Christmas party at Town Hall Square on Friday night December 24. A large Xmas tree will be erected and a varied program prepared for the public. The school band opens at 6:00 p m with Christmas music, followed by a community sing led by Victor Gerber at 6:30. Santa Claus appears at 7:00 with gifts for children under 12.

Ladies Auxiliary Initiates Twenty-Eight At VFW Post Meeting

Twenty eight members attended the Ladies Auxiliary to the V F W Post 5534 meeting in the redecorated Town Hall. Five new candidates were initiated Gloria Akers Pearl Dague Verna Edwards Patricia Gonter and Thyrza Deterich. They voted to donate five dollars to the Tuberculosis and Health Association of Wayne County.

Dalton Community Club Elects Officers After Supper

A Thursday meeting in the Methodist basement featured prayer by Lee Douglas and carols led by Victor Gerber. Minutes were read, and officers elected: president Clarence Kraus, vice president Paul Badertscher, secretary Lester Monbarren, treasurer Lloyd Poorman.

VFW Officer Visits Dalton Post Sets Date for July Carnival

Senior Vice Commander John Emde of the Ohio VFW visited the Dalton Post Tuesday night. He initiated six new candidates and spoke to members. Plans were made for a July 7 and 8 carnival at Dalton Memorial field with a new Chevrolet as a raffle prize to benefit the building fund. Massillon high coach Mr. Schroeder later presented 1948 football photos.

Three Xmas Programs At Dalton Schools

Dalton schools schedule three Christmas programs in the High School Auditorium. On Friday December 17 at 1:00 P M the first six grades perform with the Junior Orchestra and a pageant. The High School Night Xmas Program is on Wednesday December 22 at 8:00 P M featuring Orchestra Chorus and a pageant. The 7th and 8th grades perform December 23 with music from the Junior Orchestra Boys Chorus and Xmas plays.

Sonnenberg School Christmas Program Set for Dec 21 1948

Sonnenberg school hosts a Christmas program Tuesday December 21 at 8 p m in the Sonnenberg schoolhouse. The event features traditional music a recitation an exercise a skit a song flute band and two reels of motion pictures. Public invited.

Dalton Basketball Notes Ahead of Local Games

Dalton Hi hosts Doylestown on Friday night and Dalton travels to Smithville on Tuesday. Dalton lost to Sterling 39 to 29 last Friday while the Dalton Reserves won 29 to 14.

Open House Honoring Mrs. Emde by Dalton VFW Auxiliary

Social notes report an open house at Clarence Kraus residence for the Ladies Auxiliary of Dalton VFW Post 5534 on Tuesday evening from 8 to 10. Thirty five guests enjoyed Christmas decorations, refreshments, and a lace buffet with holly and red tapers. Earlier, officials and guests dined at the Kraus home. Also two Wool blankets were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Amstutz as they move to Ashtabula county. A list of attendees is provided.

Board of Education Minutes Including Land Purchase Notes

County Supt Ely visited the board on November 2 and repairs at the grade school were completed. The board voted to remove a drive tree and lay slag, fix grade school steps, and add a bus safety spotlight. Final payment of 170000 to Haverstock and Davis for the August 1947 school bus. An option on land beside Kidron school was taken, with a special Dec 10 meeting to buy 3.45 acres for 1750. Additional land borings at Kidron due to rock strata. Bills from merchants due by Dec 30. salaries and utilities only in January.

Mr Ed S Miller of Stanwood visited Dalton on business Tuesday. Mrs Ollie Fraze of West Mil grove spent the past week with the Jameson Stahl home. Miss Maud Aker formerly of this place had eye surgery at Akron City Hospital December 10. Mrs Elmer Haney returned home Saturday from Aultman Hospital Canton after an operation. Mrs Spindler left Massillon City Hospital for home Monday. Jason Good 38 of North Dalton had two middle fingers of his left hand crushed loading castings at Horsts Machine Shop Orrville Saturday noon. Dr O P Ulrich treated the wounds.
