Auction Set Oct 16 To Sell County Home Furnishings

Scale Testing Unit Returns for Clermont County Follow Up

W D Campbell chief of the division of weights and measures will send the State Scale Testing Unit back to Clermont County for a follow up on testing done here the first week of September. The unit will return in November at the request of Elmo Durbin deputy inspector. Durbin attended a weights and measures conference September 23 to 25 at Atwood Lake Lodge with Mrs Durbin. Fifty percent of trucks tested this year were condemned compared to sixty six percent last year.

Young girls hit by auto near Batavia injures two

Patricia Fortney aged 12 and Kathy Himes aged 13 were struck by a car on State Route 32 east of Batavia at 7:30 pm Tuesday. They suffered internal injuries and were rushed to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Cathy Himes’s brother Charles Himes, 15, was uninjured.

West Clermont Operating Levy Committee Formed

A West Clermont Citizen's Committee For Passage of the Operating Levy formed to back the 3.5 mill operating levy on the November 2 ballot. The First Ohio District Court of Appeals in Cincinnati postponed ruling on two issues in Clermont County regarding incorporation and annexation. Recount Shows Bond Questions Fail in Goshen District

A recount adjusted the tally to 421 yes and 424 no. Changes occurred in Precincts B D E and G altering several votes. Both questions are on the November 2 ballot with bond aid up to 315000 from the state and a six year tax levy extension for repayment.

Owensville names Louis Oskamp as mayor after resignation

Louis Oskamp was appointed mayor of Owensville by the village council Monday night and will appear on the November 2 ballot. He succeeds Robert McCowan who resigned after being transferred by his employer. The council also swore in Oskamp and elected Lloyd Puckett as vice mayor, with Ruth Homan Vincent Ansteatt and Joseph Evans on the board.
