The Office of Price Administration allows a 50 percent inventory rise for coal and wood heating stoves. Batavia dealers Ayer Hardware Co and Wasner Ulrey's expect relief though shortages for medium priced stoves persist in Clermont county. Prices range from 25 to 125 dollars with current demand between 25 and 40 dollars per stove. Dealers must apply between October 1 and 31.

John Friend Sr. father of County Treasurer John P. Friend and longtime Perintown farmer, died in a Cincinnati hospital after a brief illness. He would have turned 82 on Oct 2.
