Solvency of Clermont County Budget Balanced for 1944
Clermont county voters were assured of solvency after the board of county commissioners considered the 1944 budget. Estimated income and outlay both total $185 000 with a $27 000 expense rise from the previous year including 15000 for re appraisal 5500 for soldiers relief and 6500 in general expenses. The budget holds no salary increases this year with raises slated for 1945. County Chamber of Commerce representatives noted delinquent tax collection as a revived revenue source. A review of overdue taxes is underway. Shepherd Lane in Union township is to be reclassified as a public road and placed under township trustees.

County Bond Campaign Finishes Strong After Final Week Drive
Closing day of the third campaign week saw more than 25 percent of a 1 460 000 quota still to be raised, yet the county completed the drive before the Saturday deadline. Over 200 salesmen conducted door to door canvassing, many sacrificing rest and personal time, with clerks and buyers in countywide cooperation.
