Countians Sign Crusade For Freedom Scroll Drive Under Way
The Crusade For Freedom is underway with a Declaration of Freedom scroll on page six. Signatures testifying to freedom of speech press and religion are collected to be mailed to the Clermont Courier or printed address. The drive peaks on United Nations Day October 24 with the 20 ton Freedom Bell to sound in Berlin.

Hugh L. Nichols of Batavia a Lt jg in the Organized Naval Reserve has been ordered to report to Philadelphia on Oct 6 for active duty. A 3% year World War II veteran he has served with Reserve Division 473 Cincinnati the past three years. A College of Law University of Cincinnati graduate he has worked with Nichols Speidel and Nichols in Batavia for eight months. He is married with a two year old daughter and will report to Seattle after ten days in Philadelphia.

Man Fined Fifty for Reckless Driving in Milford
Marvin L. Prigge of Lewiston Minnesota was found guilty of reckless driving in a hearing before Mayor A G Aiken and fined 50 dollars plus costs. He pled not guilty to driving under the influence and was bound over to the grand jury for trial. The case stems from an Sept. 9 Milford accident at Main and Maple Streets that injured four people, one seriously.

Laurel Residence Destroyed By Morning Fire
The Laurel home of Mr. and Mrs. Ar lie Brooks was destroyed Monday morning by a fire thought to start from a faulty furnace. Local volunteers battled the blaze and saved most household furnishings as water damage affected some furniture.
