Local Cub Scout Leaders Hold Successful Pow Wow
Brown and Clermont Counties Cub Scout leaders held their first Pow Wow at Lake Allyn Rotary Camp Olive Branch with representation from ten communities. The event featured dens receiving guidance on games crafts ceremonies and pack management and concluded with a Blue and Gold banquet hosted by Olive Branch church members. Carlton Hyde stated the Pow Wow would be repeated next year due to strong attendance.

Library To Mark Fiftieth Anniversary In Milford
The Milford Library will host a three to five pm open house on Water Street next Sunday after October 8 to celebrate its Golden Jubilee Tea and the library’s origin with the Village Improvement Society in 1900. It recalls founders and early leaders including Dr. George B. Orr and Col. C. L. Greene with a timeline of committees and members who helped establish the library and gymnasium.

Esmond Mounce age 18 of Mt. Orab was placed on three years probation by Clermont Common Pleas Judge Harry Britton after pleading guilty to cattle theft charges. He was among five youths freed on bond in Brown County on similar charges.

Batavia Attorney Appointed Civilian Defense Director

Final Tribute for Private Russell Bruin
Private Russell Bruin of New Richmond, Ohio, the county's first Korean war casualty, was buried with full military honors in Felicity. He died of wounds at a government hospital in Japan. Company B, 147th Infantry, Ohio National Guard, Batavia members served as honor color and firing squads. Civil Air Patrol planes dropped flowers and saluted at the graveside. Sgt. E L Sullivan presented an American flag from Bruin's coffin to his mother, Mrs. Essie Smith.

Truck Destroyed by Blaze Near New California
A New Richmond Nobil Supply truck was destroyed by flames Monday near New California Ohio while returning empty after delivering a wood yarn load to Lima. The driver felt heat on his back and attempted to fight the fire with a small extinguisher but could not control it as the blaze engulfed the vehicle on State Route 33.
