Girls Friendly Circle Home Reappears as Clermont Vacation Retreat
The Clermont Academy founded by Rev. Daniel Parker in 1839 evolved into Parker Academy then faded. In 1903 Mary and Thomas Emery donated the property to the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio as a Girls Friendly Circle vacation home at Clermontville near New Richmond. Mary Marshall presides with Norrie Graham active in management. a nearby pool, McGuffey library and a 1843 program commemorative wall reflect local history.

Eight Homes Start on Edith Avenue Batavia
William Parsons of Batavia begins eight new homes on Edith Avenue in the Halbisch subdivision. The street runs west from Old Boston Road near Judge Halbisch's residence. Two houses already under construction include one for Mr and Mrs Harold Reder. The Batavia Village Council and Board of Public Affairs extend a water line to the subdivision. Most dwellings will be market homes with Keen Coal and Supply Co. assisting.

Police Seek Two New Richmond Girls
Authorities in Ohio and Kentucky search for Garnet Wells 16 and Gay Walter 15 of New Richmond after they vanished from home twice this week. Both students were last seen leaving school around 10 am en route toward Cincinnati and Louisville, with prior disappearance traced to Cincinnati at Garnet Wells’ sister’s home.

Milford Men Held In Car Theft Case
Two Milford men Warren Gordon age 29 of 734 Elizabeth Street and William Ricks age 25 of 435 Sycamore Street are jailed on charges of stealing the car of Milford councilman Robert A Rinchoff. They were arraigned before Mayor A G Aiken in Milford Police Court and ordered held for the grand jury under a $1000 bond. Gordon was released on bail Tuesday night.

Morley Higgins of Batavia, previously probation officer for Clermont County Juvenile Court, is named county sanitarian by the Board of Health and will resign Monday to assume the new post. Judge Orville Halbisch appoints Fred Hoh to replace Figgins as probation officer. Hoh, former New Richmond police chief, leads the Clermont County Peace Officers' Association and has worked as a Cincinnati safety engineer and dry cleaner owner.
