Community leaders and residents braved 90-degree heat at Royal Oak Country Club for a golf outing and auction to raise about 9000 dollars for Clermont County Special Olympics. Norma Ferguson notes funds will help the local Olympians attend the state meet next June.
A seven member advisory board appointed by the Clermont County commissioners will plan and oversee state funded programs to prevent child abuse and neglect. The board, serving unpaid terms, could begin awarding funds by January 30 and must follow a formula based on 18 and under populations.
Last week transposed figures on property transfers are corrected. Donald and Joyce Flach sold 0.87 acre to Phillip R. Duke and Associates for 72500 dollars. Martha Riehle sold 12.32 acres for 235000 dollars. Bernard and Jean Gendreau sold 2.93 acres for 237500 dollars to Duke and Associates.
The plan needs approval by counties with 60 percent of the population. Three years are allotted to install the system. State tax credits will cover one time installation costs while customers face a 15 to 25 cent surcharge. Counties may levy taxes to fund dispatching equipment and ongoing costs based on call volume.
