Clermont Courier Subscription Contest kicks off countywide

The Clermont Courier launches a multi locality subscription contest with groups including Mt. Carmel Glen Este PTA and local school classes competing. Coyle Twins Entertain With Birthday Party

A birthday party was held Saturday at the residence of Mr and Mrs 8 Coyle of Batavia for their twin daughters Claudette and Anette who are six years old. Guests included Patricia Sheen Judy Fishback and many Batavia friends with several relatives from Mount Washington and Williamsburg.

Georgetown Man Injured in Route 50 Crash

Elbert Hale of near Georgetown was hospitalized after his Plymouth struck a guard rail on Route 50 near Owensville Tuesday evening. He lacked a driver's license and was jailed in Batavia after initial treatment for facial cuts. Hale later said he suffered additional injuries and was moved to Christ Hospital in Cincinnati Wednesday.

Officials of the Clermont County Baseball League met with Goshen and Williamsburg reps to set the Elimination Series playoff. First game Sept 29 at Goshen, second Oct 6 at Williamsburg, potential third Oct 13 at Goshen, with three umpires supplied by Queen City Umpires Association. Williamsburg trusts with one loss leads, managed by George Craig. Goshen managed by George Craig and Elmer Bailey. League officers: Earle B. Kincaid president, Virgil Malott vice president, Stanley Anstaett secretary treasurer. A large crowd saw Mt. Carmel vs Goshen amid drizzle, field conditions remained good.

Safety Council backs rural fire protection plan in Clermont County

Clermont County Safety Council backs cooperation with Mayor Mun den village leaders and fire chiefs to extend fire protection to rural areas. The council notes 482 major farmer accidents last year causing $19 965 in losses, and sets October activities and an early November firearms safety and rural education program. The next meeting is Friday evening October 18 at the County Agent's office with officer elections and by law adoption planned.

Owensville Horse Show Opens Thursday at Fairgrounds

Arrangements are complete for the Owensville Horse Show and Carnival at the Owensville Fairgrounds September 26 27 and 28 sponsored by the Williamsburg American Legion Post. Mail boxes torn down near Afton Route 74

Post Office Inspector Van Lieu of Cincinnati investigated damage to about 35 mail boxes along Route 74 near Afton Tuesday night. Three men were arrested and held at the county jail as of Wednesday noon. Local youth urged to respect U S Mail after Batavia box incident

Three Caught With Fake Weapon In Orchard Theft

Mrs Lulu Lipps stopped three men stealing apples near Locust Corner saying a weapon. Officials found the tool was a pair of pliers. Odas Puckett and Jimmy Holden of Hamilton county fined 50 dollars and costs with 25 suspended. A juvenile was present. Harry Morrison bound over to grand jury on 400 dollar bond for assault. Stanley Maupin and John Salzer fined 50 dollars and costs with 40 suspended for disorderly conduct in Batavia.

W. C. T. U. Convention Set in Williamsburg Ohio

Attendees included W W Hamilton Joy Mae Warner J A Ashton June Roush Thomas Hill Mr and Mrs Henry Baudendistel and Roscoe Pringle along with Farm Ownership program participants. Demonstrations covered fertilization of corn and tobacco and alfalfa permanency with a lunch at Ernest Stroub home.
