Beware of Strangers Fraud Targeting Farmland Purchasers

A smooth talking buyer swindled W. A. Clark of 100 dollars in a bogus farm deal near Bethel and Williamsburg. The buyer offered 5000 for the Clark farm, paid 2500 with a bad check and urged a 100-dollar cash settlement on a second check that also bounced. The suspect, Carl Davis, vanished after the deal fell through. the matter was reported to banks and local officials. The notice ends urging voters to support N. G. Cover for probate judge, citing needed fairness and legal knowledge.

Guardianship denied as Fisher declared competent by court

The Probate Court ruled Lady August Frank G. Fisher incompetent on application by Fisher's wife but Judge Clarence N. Young contended the guardianship was invalid due to physical disability. Doctors testified Fisher was competent, and the court set aside the guardianship returning his property to him.

Dayton church elder laid to rest at Union cemetery

Ris, a longtime member of the M. E. Church, died recently in Dayton. He joined the church many years before the current building. Funeral services will be held at his residence on Sunday with burial in Union cemetery.
