Republican Rally at Amelia Promotes Local Election Hope

The Republican gathering at Hon. C. Kearns' Amelia last Thursday drew a strong turnout and a lively social spirit. Speaker lineup included Earl Cranston and John Haussermann with local candidates. luncheon, music by Bethel school band, and remarks by Mrs. Kearns marked a convivial political event. Two county road and commissioners candidates Frank Willis and Ezra Seyler urged competent leadership for county projects and highway work ahead of the November 4 election.

Mill Sells Bethel mill to Ohio Farm Bureau Corp

The Ohio Farm Bureau Corp, with home office at Gelumbus, bought the milling plant of The E W Dilimen Flour Mills Inc at Bethel creating 12 distributing points in Ohio with Bethel as a central hub. Clermont county seeks a fearless sheriff candidate Robert Roberta of Miami township trained under Fred J. Croswell, promising two more years in service. Enquire straw vote predicts Myers V. Cooper Gov with Hamilton County backing. Smith lead predicted by 30,000 by Democrats. Cherry Grove Ladies Aid and Amaville Baptist Ladies Aid held an all day church meeting quilting and social time, adjourned at 4 o clock.

Arizona Cowboy Comedy to Benefit Boy Scouts in Withamsville

Owensville Wins Pennant With 8-4 Victory Over Mt. Carmel

Owensville claimed the league title by beating Mt. Carmel 8 to 4 before the county’s largest crowd, with over 800 attendees and $200 added to Mt. Carmel’s treasury. Witschger pitched strong, fanning ten through five, while Owensville slugged late aided by a Witschger triple and key hits. Goode’s catching and throwing earned praise, and Batsville’s batters helped seal the win. Prize money split 50 percent to Owensville, 35 percent to Mt. Carmel, and 15 percent to Batavia, with sportsmanship noted on both sides.

County Commissioners Pay Bills and Hear Nominations

The county commissioners met on September 24 and approved numerous invoices including Bethel Sand & Gravel Co. 10500 for gravel and payrolls for various labor and rental accounts. They also authorized payments to Clermont Sun and Clermont Courier, road work by George Downs and Jones & Smith, and dog tags from the Ohio Penitentiary among others. The notice ends urging support for Geo. P. Medary of Williamsburg township for clerk of the court, praising his clerical ability and trustworthiness.
