Murder Trial Date Set for Mrs. Dovie Dean in Clermont

In Clermont County Court Mrs. Dovie Dean pleaded not guilty to first degree murder in the death of her husband Hawkins Dean 68. The Oct 20 jury trial was set with defense attorney Hugh Nichols and assistants Ben West and John L. Watson. Prosecutor Ray Bradford will be aided by Dale M. Osborne and Forrest E. Ely.

Martha Sue Garner three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Lonnie Garner of Batavia is stricken with polio and was taken to Iginn's Hospital in Cincinnati early this week.

Mrs. Cora Mercer Attends National Republican Club Meet

Mrs. Cora Mercer of New Richmond returned from St. Louis where she served as county delegate to the National Federation of Women's Republican Clubs meeting held at the Statler Hotel. The convention attracted more than 700 women with representation from all Ohio counties. In July she was an alternate delegate to the Ohio State Convention.

Clermont County reorganizes to add seven precincts for November

Clermont County will operate seven new precincts for the November election, bringing total precincts to 63. The changes, announced by James W. Walker, Clerk of the Board of Elections, adjust lines in several townships and towns to improve vote distribution, with New Richmond and Bethel also gaining multiple divisions.

Mrs. Donald Cal houn of Wilhiamsville announces the Clermont County Citizens School Planning Commission has adopted Clermont Schools Committee as its permanent name. Business Building Purchased by Bissantz Brothers in Batavia

The combined business and apartment building at Main and Water Streets in Batavia was bought by Harold Bissantz and his twin brother Howard, both of Batavia. Harold runs a trucking business in Amelia, while Howard and partner Calvin Lewis have run Clermont Laundry and Dry Cleaning and plan expansion.

Anstaett Services Held Tuesday

Services were held at the Moore funeral home in Batavia for Valentine Anstaett of Owensville. He was retired and formerly lived in Newtonsville where his son Carl is principal. He is survived by three other sons Alvin Vincent all of Owensville and three daughters Marie Ehrat Velma Schobert and Clara Anstaett.

Cincinnati Man Attempts Death By Own Action

Arcillas Calloway 55 shot himself near the heart with a .22 Sunday then drove to his sister’s home on Cole road and asked to be taken to Bethesda Hospital. He is at Powers funeral home ambulance and is reported to have a good chance for recovery. His wife Virginia had divorced him on September 13. In Clough Heights Ohio the Civic Club met to discuss sponsoring the long running water project.

Six Firemen Hurt At Sohio Station Fire

Chief Clifford Schaerges said six firefighters were injured September 21 while battling a tool fire at the Sohio Service Station in Withamsville. Damage was about $7,000: $4,000 to the building and $3,000 to equipment. investigators suspect a short circuit started the blaze.
