Batavia Guard Unit Opens Two Week Recruiting Drive

Batavia's National Guard unit Company B 147th Infantry 37th Division announced a two week recruiting drive to double its strength. Enlisted and officers vacancies exist with drill pay 2.50 to 5.50 daily. Open house planned at Batavia Armory with events each Monday Wednesday and Friday and a booth at Milford Fall Festival.

Lindale Man Plans Home Dance Studio Opening

Victor Ratliff of Lindale announces a home dance studio opening on September 27 teaching ballroom, tap and ballet. He studied about six years and trained at Schuster Martin School of Drama in Cincinnati and at Rosedale and Kalin Studios. Ratliff previously taught in Cincinnati before moving to Lindale and is the son of C E Ratliff and wife, now of Moscow.

Home Demonstration Clubs to Hold Clermont County Picnic

Three Clermont County Home Demonstration Clubs plan a picnic on Wednesday October 1 at the County Fairgrounds with an 11 a.m. covered dish lunch. Batavia Couple Weds Amid Milford Honor Maid and Best Man

Strimple of Batavia Ohio married with Lillian Dermheisel of Milford as maid of honor and Donald Jenkins of Batavia as best man. Two solos were sung by Mrs A H Theis with Mrs McBride at the organ. A reception at the bride’s parents’ home followed, then the couple left for a trip through the Eastern States.

Mobile Dental Unit to Examine Clermont School Children

A State Department of Health mobile dental unit will visit Clermont County on October 7 to survey first and second graders. Examinations will begin in New Richmond and continue for six to eight weeks, with two locations for complete corrective care for twenty underprivileged students.

Two Accidents Reported in Clermont County

State Highway Patrol investigated two weekend accidents in Clermont County. Bertha Clemmons of Monterey, 70, was hit by a Bainbridge driver while stepping from behind a car and hospitalized in Cincinnati. Robert Hardin, 19, of Moscow was injured on Route 132 after a truck crossed the highway. others injured were Russell Peters and John Benjamin, both of Moscow. A separate Clermont County Common Pleas suit seeks authority for Newtonsville Church of the Nazarene to operate a church bus without license fees. Forrest Ely filed a demurrer arguing lack of action in original papers.

John Carter of Batavia was bound over to the grand jury after appearing before Mayor A C Munden. He admitted assaulting his divorced wife Ethel Carter Saturday evening, leaving bruises and cuts on her face.

Clermont Countians Save More Money During War and Postwar

The Ohio Savings and Loan League reports Clermont County residents increased per capita savings to 225.25 at the start of 1947 from 161.10 in 1941, a 40 percent rise. Total county savings and loan resources reach 7.68 million dollars, up about 2.39 million from prewar totals.

Beninger Dies After Service at Batavia Cafe Owner

Charles V. Beninger owner and operator of the R. L. Cafe in Batavia died Sunday at his Cherry Grove home. He was buried Tuesday at Mt Moriale Cemetery. Survived by his widow Mrs Mary Beninger and daughter Mrs Dorothy Cheney of Cherry Grove.

Fall Festival at Old Fort Club
