Brownie piloted by How ard Lewis won the Hunts and Jumpers class at the Carthage Fair with judges declaring the display the best seen. Lewis also won two first places in jump events and the fair stake, and Brownie will appear at the River Downs Charity Show this week.
Two squirrel hunters near Williams Corner were accidentally shot. Bob Pierce and Miss Mary Newberry were struck by about sixteen bullets each as Harold Kinner fired, mistaking movement for a squirrel. Pierce remained ambulatory. Newberry received treatment in Amelia and Batavia and her condition was not known Wednesday.

Hamilton served as an instructor aiding the program for club members.
Batavia Cub Scout Pack hosted Amelia and Williamsville guests after a ball game between Batavia Cubs and visiting Cubs. Charles Hurdle led the meet ing with talks by Edwin Burger Russell Speidel and Louis Hagerman. New members Allen Miller Clarence Ludeke and Kenneth Horner joined as the drive for 9 to 12 year olds continues, contact James Haney Batavia 3592.
A lawn supper will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the Afton Methodist Church. Sponsored by the W. S. C. S. the event invites the public. Refreshments will be served on the grounds and a free movie will be provided.
Curtis M. Smith filed a $25 000 personal injury suit against Chas Danbury of Williamsburg. The Common Pleas Court dismissed Monday after Judge Harry Britton sustained a motion to strike. The accident occurred in Kentucky. suit filed in Ohio 18 months later under differing statutes of limitations. Represented by Ely White Davidson for Danbury and Bonaparte with Nichols Speidel Nichols for the plaintiff.
State Highway Patrol arrest drives occur in Clermont County for driving on freshly painted highway center lines. Officials note painting costs about 80 dollars per mile and lines are marked at intervals while wet. Chicken supper planned at Newtonsville P T A on September 26 at the school building.
Loys E Peart of Bethel has built a delphinium garden on West Street with about 800 plants grown from seed. He crosses varieties to create five distinct new strains and serves as a local authority on care and cultivation. Peart, a member of the American Delphinium Society, has won ribbons in Chicago and Cincinnati. He recalls reviving ill entries to win blue ribbons and notes his garden attracts hummingbirds and bees.
George C Ankermiller reports at the Clermont Experiment Station near Owensville on two soil plots from 1934 to 1945. One plot with no fertilizer yielded 30.1 bu corn per acre, 9.2 bu wheat, 1606 lb hay. the fertilized plot with 450 lb acre of 2-12-6 and 5 tons manure per corn planting yielded 509.8 bu corn, 26.7 bu wheat, 3601 lb hay per acre.
The Monterey Church of Christ marks its Centennial on Homecoming Day with worship, lunch, and an afternoon service. Guest speaker George Mark Elliott will attend as part of the celebration. Police warn motorists passing school buses will be arrested, citing Ohio Code and past fatalities.

Clermont County Sheriff Clyde Dericks and Deputies Marvin Bissanta and Frank Hutchinson will enforce laws against passing school buses while loading and unloading along highways. Violators will be arrested and fined.
The Georgetown Post reports several arrests in Clermont County for passing buses on highways. Authorities warn motorists with no prior arrests that future violations will lead to arrest.
Amelia P T A prepares for a Saturday October 4 event featuring booths white elephant fancy work and home baked goods. The Marathon Grange schedules a party Friday evening September 26 at the Marathon schoolhouse. Dale K. Bee will lead games and recreation. refreshments will be served. No regular meeting is planned for September 19, per Mary Schmid.
