Governor Cooper Senator McCulloch and Henry T Bannon head the slate at the Sixth District Republican campaign opening in Amelia on Saturday September 27 at the home of Hon C Kearns with a noon lunch. Local and district candidates invited.
Victor Gaskins, a Batavia Chevrolet dealer, opens a new Madisonville showroom on October 1 using a separate team. The Batavia staff remains, while the Madisonville unit serves rural districts and Cincinnati access. Gaskins is described as a successful salesman.
Mrs Gertrude Brown of the Children's Home Society of Ohio tours the community to recruit 100 families to open their homes and provide care for homeless boys and girls aged six to sixteen. The society aims to shelter needy children and asks for housing love training food clothing and shelter to make room for more orphans and abused youths. Also Batavia Garden Club elected officers for next year. Rev Curtis Robinson resigns from Williamsburg Presbyterian Church due to ill health with his farewell service upcoming.
The Clermont county Auditor B L Ketchum succeeded in reducing real estate valuations by ten percent on the tax duplicate two weeks ago. Counties across the state have followed, helping people hurt by drought and poor crops. The article praises the move as timely relief while noting voters will remember his good judgment. Bill Painter of Tate Township near Bethel confessed to Sheriff Roberts and Deputies Meinkess and Kain plus Prosecutor Ely that he assaulted G W Reedy station man at Maywood Saturday night at 9 30. Painter struck Reedy with a Ford wrench, searched his pockets and fled. the 73 year old victim identified Painter by red sweater and cap. Painter and Rose Curlis were jailed after the confession and purse found under a Curtis home carpet.
John Hayden reports progress on Route 74 below Batavia with a planned tarvia-lythia non skid coat before snow. He says the treatment is timely for road safety and traveler protection, and promises ongoing progress.
The Methodist Episcopal Church in Cincinnati hosts a Jubilee Meeting October 8 to 15 with a Gold Certificate Processional, fifty missionaries, fifty deaconesses, and fifty students in a grand procession. International Night showcases many races in native costumes, and Laurel wreaths will be awarded as goals are met. An ice cream social by Olive Branch Ladies’ Aid is planned for September 27 at the church.

Guards changed by commanders and bribes demanded for cargo or passenger boats. a gunfight near shore. arrival on the coast then Canton after a disrupted train service. The writers expect a return to inland duty by late August amid typhoons and heavy rain in Baguio and summer heat in Canton.
Frank Turner, 19, jailed at Batavia after cutting Ted Robinson, 45, at Lo cust Corner Sunday night. Robinson, a prominent farmer, was cut seven times with a knife during a dispute over calf feeding. Sheriff Roberts and deputies seized Turner by 11 o'clock. Dr. J. W. Mott attended Robinson, who remains in serious condition.
The Cincinnati Regimental Band gave a Sept. 11 concert to a large audience, praised as a season’s treat. A lengthy obituary notes Anna Madora Hartman, born 1854, longtime Williamsburg resident, with surviving daughter Nettie Knight and extended family, and includes Bible verses and a formal card of thanks from the family.
Bartone's show returns after five years for a two week run. The tent is set on the Bishop for back of the town hall. Opening night Monday drew a large crowd and was free to the public.

N E Davis of Columbus assisting. Officials include Judgeugh Nichols and Mrs Fred Schoeffler helping with the stone as the congregation reflects on local history connected to A B Grant.
