Jubilee Anniversary for Woman's Home Missionary Society

The Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church marks its 50th anniversary in Cincinnati October 8 to 15 at Taft Auditorium. The group began at Trinity M E Church in 1886. An Old Trinity birthplace pilgrimage is set for October 8 morning with communion from 8 to 12. A Pentecostal and Memorial service follows in Taft Auditorium.

State Plan for Batavia Sewer System

A state official visited Batavia on Friday to discuss eliminating odor during low water in the East Fork. He warned similar conditions exist statewide and urged a sanitary sewer system with an engineer, plans, and a cost range of 500 to 1000 dollars. He proposed incinerator construction at 25000 dollars funded by 1981 bonds and advised separating storm sewers from sanitary lines.

Bridge site visit to Clermont delays fall timetable

State Highway Director Robert Ward and Clermont representative John Hayden inspected the Stone Lick site last week over a promised bridge. No fall program commitment was given though grade stakes were driven. Ward noted limited equipment for farmers and the $4 000 000 federal money won t be available until July.

Batavia main street received a tarvia coat with chips last Saturday from the N. and W. railroad to the N. O. Weaver corner at the foot of Williamsburg hill. Funding comes from auto license sale proceeds and town treasury. $400 available with the balance covered.
