Court records detail multiple civil suits and divorces including G C Anderson vs Schuorr Schmorr Bailey and others with foreclosures and interest terms. The docket also lists partitions, real estate transfers, guardianships, delinquency cases and final estate accounts. A veterans reunion at Milford honors Chickamauga veterans with speeches and musical tributes.
The Lynchburg ball team played eleven innings against Batavia last Saturday, delaying hour for Dr. Belt’s funeral. With a close 5 to 5 score in the tenth, the 11th decided the winner amid high spectator enthusiasm and fine plays by both sides.
The 59th O. V. I. reunion will be held at Lake Allyn on the C. Ga. and P. road October 4. Attendees arriving by the C. G. and P. road will be paid through fare to Alma station on the Batavia branch. Dinner provided by Olive Branch ladies. Committee: J. N. Judd, Wm. Parkins, J. C. Salt.
Amelia Grange will host a reception for returned soldiers from Amelia and vicinity to honor their service in the recent war. A program will be presented and a basket lunch served. ladies are asked to bring baskets. The event is Friday evening September 26 at eight o'clock at the Grange Hall.
A great game is set at Owensville Ball Park on Sunday September 28 with Owensville hosting Lynchburg. The umpire will be from Cincinnati and the 2:30 PM start promises to be the season’s banner matchup. Last game between the clubs was at Owensville.
A meeting of tobacco growers is called for Saturday September 27 at the Avia court house to discuss issues of interest to growers of all sizes. All growers are urged to attend and share views, with a call to unite under the state seal motto United we stand, divided we fall.
The September report by Supt Siye covers inmate counts, discharges, runaways and removals plus a financial section listing salaries, expenses and receipts. It notes total expenses of 7468.57 and net expenses 5370.66 with an inventory valued at 39 400 and a 15 mill tax rate for the Poor Fund final figures. W. J. Bryan will visit Clermont county October 6 defending prohibition with stops at Williamsburg Batavia Milford and Loveland.
County banks show a very prosperous condition with plentiful money, higher wages, and producers selling at higher prices. The value of a dollar is about half its ten year purchasing power, and banks nationwide are flush with borrowers, boosting business returns.
Alvie Riley a Batavia machinist wed Miss Martha Ruth Baker of Olive Branch last Saturday at the M E church parsonage with Rev Wilson officiating. The bride, popular among friends, and the couple will live in Batavia as many well wishers extend prayers and congratulations. Rev Billman of St Louis spoke at the funeral of Dr Charles Belt held at the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon, greeted by many friends.
A E Freeman born August 28 and died August 9 1919 at age 47. Daughter of Samuel and Evaline Day now Mrs. Mike Carpenter. Married to Lewis A Freeman February 14 18. Survived by husband two children John and Mabel and extended family. Funeral reflects Christian hope and comfort in heavenly Father.

A crisis in the Batavia Public Library finances leaves the facility without funds to operate. The finance committee reports the library cannot be sustained by club assessments and public subscriptions alone and will seek personal contributions starting October.
Washington reports House Pension committee backed a bill for a base pension of 50 dollars a month for Civil War veterans plus 30 dollars for widows and 68 dollars for children under 16. Total cost 65 million dollars in year one with 72 dollars for totally disabled veterans and a reduced amount for those with partial disability. Supporters say the measure honors veterans as older numbers fade from memory.
Construction on the new Loose Leaf Tobacco Warehouse at Batavia began last week with 820 workers hauling gravel and stone for three by four foot pillars. Excavation proceeds to support a near flat roof, lumber has been purchased and carpenters will move the project toward completion.
The Clermont County Normal school plans to begin work next Monday September 29 and may call students this week for early assignments. Miss Margaret Summers is expected to replace Miss Elizabeth Stabner who is unable to work due to illness.
Reverend Robert Allbaugh previously preaching at Amelia Baptist Church has accepted a position as a high school teacher in the Bethel schools. He brings several years of teaching experience and is considered well suited for the role.
Clermont County earns its Thrift County name as teachers urge enrolling children in home thrift projects. Students earn and save while gaining school credit under the Ritter Law requiring homework training in prudent spending.
Ida Warren aged 76 died after a brief illness at T A Pinkham’s residence near Bantam on Sunday September 14. Born near New Richmond she was a prominent county teacher later teaching Indians in Oklahoma under government employ and later worked as a San Francisco bookkeeper. Funeral held Tuesday at Cincinnati Crematory with ashes to Mt Pisgah Cemetery.
