Earl E. Ertel Dies in Clermont County at 56
Earl E. Ertel 56 a longtime Clermont County Democrat and Cincinnati fraternal figure died suddenly of heart trouble Sunday afternoon at Stonelick while attending a Catholic church dinner outing. He formerly led the Cincinnati Optimist Club and chaired its international convention. Born 1881 in Loveland he served as a two term state representative and county Democratic chairman, was a presidential elector in 1932. Funeral services were set for Wednesday at Thomas Funeral Home Madisonville.

Reports say a 27 acre timbered tract on Route 74 near Batavia bought by Laura Joe Baker through L. C. Hopkins Realty will be divided into two acre lots for a possible new subdivision near Bungalos. Randolph Reynolds sold the original tract. The nearby 8 12 acre Loe brech farm also changed hands to Reed Crume with a five room bungalow and concrete repair garage included.

West Named to Smith Job in Brown County Education
H. D. West was named last week by the Brown County Board of Education to succeed Dick Smith as County Superintendent of Education. West, born in Belfast Highland County, holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Wilmington College and is pursuing a Master’s degree at Columbia. He taught at Fincastle and Hamersville, became principal there for five years, and then served as superintendent for one year. The board believes the choice is highly qualified for the duties.
