Ohio Conference of M. E. Church Ends Pastors Reassigned

The Ohio Conference of the Methodist Church in Dayton closed with exhortations to reconcile for both capitalist and laborer pews. Ministers were reassigned to multiple charges including Amelia Batavia Felicity Forestville Goshen and more. New appointments include Loveland Summerside Moscow Owensville Mainville and others with Clermont County changes to Somerset Lebanon St Pauls Sabina and Okana. Dr. Charles E Turley remains District Superintendent. Real estate tax collections in Clermont County reached about 150000 by week end as treasurer John P. Friend and deputy James M. Fitzpatrick praised the year’s effort.

Doctors to Assemble for Bethel Medical Convention

Clermont County Medical Society sponsors a one day obstetrics focused convention in Bethel at Grant Memorial Building on Wednesday September 15. Bethel Netmen Capture Honors in Ripley Tournament

Four Bethel tennis players returned from Ripley with three trophies after dominating the annual Ripley Athletic Club event. Junior Patterson beat Bob Wichard 6-2 8-10 6-3 in singles, and Hutson with Hewitt won doubles 4-6 6-2 6-2 against Wichard and Patterson.

4 H Club Congress Delegates From Clermont At Ohio State

Clermont 4 H Club Executive Council selected Miss Alberta Rumpke Carmel Hazel Ferree Jeannette Savage Frances Flisher Edenton Helen Smith Monterey and Messrs Howard Wildey Laure Wayne Schobert to attend the 4 H Club Congress at Ohio State University this week. Chaperon is Miss Margaret Haarlatmerry Goshen. They left Sunday and return Friday. The theme is Problems and Interests of Rural Youth with talks on Choosing Careers Everyday Courtesies Personal Appearance Heredity and Modern Life. Ferree and Schobert came via American Legion courtesy.

Williamsburg Grange Meeting Set for September 18

Williamsburg Grange No. 1999 met Saturday night September 4 with a literary program after business. The next meeting September 18 will include the annual inspection. All members and officers are asked to attend at 8 30 p m and each family is asked to bring a pie.

Lorena Lewis of Bethel nabbed the lake’s prize pike near Coldwater Michigan last week. While visiting Betton area friends, the 86 inch fighter earned praise from Mrs. Lewis as the oldest and best free water game fish.

The Tate Township Board of Education tax case was appealed from Clermont Common Pleas Court at Batavia to the Court of Appeals last Saturday morning. A hearing is set for October 4 in Batavia.

First Jury Trial Opens Wednesday for Milford Marshal

The first jury trial of the fall season will open Wednesday next as Milford Marshal Joe Pierson faces an assault charge. Common Pleas Judge Chas G White will preside. Deputy Sheriff Frank Abbott prepared summons for 48 petit jurors to appear at the courthouse for drawings and jury service.

Legion Elects Officers at Batavia Armory

The American Legion of Batavia met at the Armory on Wednesday night and elected officers: Commander Irwin Kain, finance officer Earl Kincaid, vice commander Chas Bell, second vice William Brossart, third vice Red Murray, chaplain Ben Pleiman, sergeant Chas Witt. A fine lunch followed.

Robbery at Williamsburg Department Store Loots Reported

Burglars smashed the front door of C. H. McNutt & Co store in Williamsburg last Wednesday morning and stole about $500 worth of dry goods shoes shirts dresses and goods. Some spoilage boxes were found on the road toward Owensville and a Majestic desk radio was also taken. Sheriff Auxier investigated the incident.

Family Reunion For Hodges Family In Premont Milford

Michael Hodges held a family reunion at his son Henry A Hodges home in Premont Milford last Sunday. A basket dinner was shared and numerous Hodges relatives gathered including Ernest, John, Roy and various spouses and children from Chicago Cincinnati Dayton Columbus Fayetteville Lebanon Batavia and surrounding areas.

Car Cranks Into Home Near Batavia Station

Charles Himes of Batavia was cranking a Ford at a Standard Oil filling station when the car rolled in reverse and crashed through a side of Amel Dial’s house across the street. No injuries reported and the home occupants were not inside the vehicle.

New Richmond Store Robbery Leads to Cincinnati Arrests

Burglars entered Castlen Department Store on Monday night through a side window and stole about $1000 in goods. Sadie Seymour and James Davis were arrested in Batavia after being tracked to Cincinnati by Sheriff Auxier and Deputy Perry. Harry Brown remains at large. Goods from Williams burg and Castlen were identified and recovered, with Castlen goods returned to owners. Frank Hauck and Perry Hummel aided recognition. Perry broadcasted the heist while police chased suspects.

Flower Show Big Successful Joint Garden Club Event

The Williamsburg and Bethel Garden Clubs sponsored a Saturday Flower Show in Bethel at the Grant Memorial Building from 3 to 9 pm. About 250 attended and roughly $6 was raised from pastries and sandwiches. grand prize went to Mrs. Jane Musgrove for a miniature villa.
