Fisherman Drowns at Camp Gernon on East Fork River
Walter Wolker a 43 year old fisherman from Hemlock and Locust streets Wal nut Hills Cincinnati drowned in two feet of water at Camp Gernon three miles below Batavia Sunday afternoon. He had fished in the morning and several catches were ready to be taken home to his mother. Miles Hill of Gernon saw him fall but could not save him.

His Last Hunt Died While Hunting Squirrel Near Fayetteville
John C. Young, well known in Batavia, died last Wednesday afternoon while hunting near Fayetteville. A 100 strong search failed to locate him until Thursday afternoon. Sheriff McCollum found his body in J C Campbell's woods. He died in a chair position, likely from a paralysis stroke years after a prior episode. Funeral held Friday at Union cemetery with Masonic service by Rev Burdsal. He leaves no close relatives except a half sister Mrs Megrue of Edenton. He was 71.

Speeder Fined for 50 MPH Through Batavia
George Truesdell of Norwood was caught speeding at 50 mph through Batavia last Tuesday night. Ralph Fuhr arrested him at Sardinia. Sheriff Croswell and Marshal Krantz brought him before Mayor Larkin, who fined him 100 dollars plus costs and jailed him until his sister paid the next morning. Visitors are warned Main Street is not a race track and fines may follow. Fred Winter and family returned from Lynchburg and are visiting at the N and W depot.

In the Burley Tobacco Growers' Co operative Association election held countywide Frank Jarman of Moscow was elected at Batavia to represent the county at the Georgetown district convention on Monday. A director will be chosen at Georgetown to meet in Lexington Kentucky and organize. One delegate per one million pounds produced. Clermont had one and Brown two. Voter turnout was light with 117 of 1000 cast.

Summit man corrections claim after liquor arrest
William H. Barker of Summit denies the charge that he possessed and sold moonshine and asserts the shotgun found was only placed in a yard while he was shooting a hawk. Moonshine raid ends with theft suspect's plea
Sheriff Croswell Deputy Dawson County Detective W E Kain and H Richards visited Orlando Park on the Grant Highway near Bantam Saturday night. Deputy Dawson captured Carl Phillips 21 of Newtown with a half pint of moon liquor a 32 calibre revolver and $94 part of which was marked. Phillips pleaded guilty Monday before Judge White to selling and possession of liquor and was fined 200 and sentenced. He was bound over to the grand jury for carrying concealed weapons with bond set at 500.

Moon Money Case Seized in Clermont County Arrest
Carl Phillips, 21, of Newtown, arrested Saturday night at Orland Park near Bantam by Sheriff Croswell and Deputy Dawson for possession and sale of liquor and carrying concealed weapons.
