Owensville Mayor Robert T. Hyde claims the Cincinnati tax warrant is illegal and politically timed. He says Owensville officials have sought cooperation on tax sharing but allege the city shuns talks and even ignores legal notices and attorney letters.
Bethel Mayor W F Smith signs the Constitution Week proclamation witnessed by Mrs Oscar Dumford Sr regent of Beech Forest DAR. Mayors Robert Hyde Owensville and C E Danbury Williamsburg also sign proclamations for their villages as the Southwest district DAR meeting convenes at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church.
Lyle Brewer aged 34 entered a not guilty plea to first degree manslaughter in Clermont County Court. He waived preliminary exam and was bound to the grand jury under 9000 dollars bond after shooting neighbor Edward Kaminski 34 with a shotgun following a reported shadow at a bathroom window. Brewer’s attorney is Hugh C. Nichols.
Ray Naylor 35 of 1435 Yarmouth Cincinnati assumed duties as Clermont County Soil Conservationist Monday replacing Mel Hesel who moved to Clark County. Lincoln County Kentucky native and University of Kentucky graduate with a BS in Agriculture, Naylor previously taught veterans agricultural classes in Rowan County and worked with Armour Fertilizer Co. before joining the Soil Conservation Service five years ago. He has spent the last three years in the Butler County SCS office. He is married to Beulah and they have two children Sandra 13 and Stove 8.
Clermont County commissioners urge State Highway Department engineer Joseph M. Unger to study replacing the one lane Rt. 222 bridge in Batavia amid S curves and high traffic after multiple wrecks. They offer cooperation.

PTA units to be educated about the Heat test to be given in county schools following 261 adults and children tested at the Batavia PTA meeting last Thursday funded by Christmas Seal sales.
The Clermont County Good Government League released findings from an investigation of welfare relief problems. It recommends streamlining bill payments and giving the welfare director more hiring authority, amid mixed reactions from Paul Blocher and Batavia group leader Mrs. William S. Moore who question the report’s conclusions and highlight ongoing concerns.
Clermont County Pharmaceutical Association warns Welfare Department that continued delinquent bills threaten cooperation. President Daniel F. Smith and fellow members demand prompt payment by Oct 1 and a clear future policy. Association offers to meet with Welfare Director Wayne Oney to resolve the issue.
Mrs. A Gordon Schulze of Amelia is among 30 000 volunteers in the United Appeal campaign. She chairs District R-8 as hundreds in the area join the drive to raise 6 665 600 for 125 health welfare and character building agencies of the Community Chest and 16 Red Cross services.
Open house will be held at the Amelia senior and junior high schools on Clough Pike near Olive Branch Road and the Summerside addition on Vermona Dr. A dedication program is planned at the Amelia high school on Sunday. The program features the Amelia high school band and glee club, with speakers including William Hickson and James Wooldridge, and a guest speaker W Darling.
Mt. Carmel area residents will see children from Viking Village selling light bulbs to raise funds for playground equipment. Each bag contains four bulbs two 60 watt and two 100 watt, with proceeds supporting the civic club project.

Intruders at Valley View Inn left shoe print impressions on a chair cushion guiding Williamsburg and Batavia police to three arrests. Anthony Wespasser Wil liam MacFarren Jr and the 19 year old from Bethel admitted burglaries at the inn Reed's Supermarket and a service station vending machines. They face $2500 bond on breaking and entering charges. Horace L White named to village council to fill unexpired term ending 1962.
At the Clermont County ASC county committee election on Sept. 15, Carey W. Thompson was elected chairman, Augustus Wolf vice chairman, Cary P. Hutchinson regular member, Thomas S. Hill first alternate, and George W. Schafer second alternate.
