Group Protests Use Of Public School Bus For Parochial Pupils

A Loveland protest cites constitutional concerns over public school buses carrying parochial school children. Residents argue such trips violate church state separation and slow buses for public students. The board had allowed St Columban pupils to ride since last year after prior policy changes.

Frank Mayer of 4651 Elmont Drive Mt Carmel receives a Doctorate in School Administration from Indiana University. Annexation Petition Seeks 400 Acres in Batavia

A petition with 37 signatures for annexing about 400 acres to Batavia was filed with Clermont County commissioners. Attorney Forrest E. Ely represents the petitioners. A public hearing is set for Oct 30 at 10 a.m. The area covers Rt 74 westward to include retail and wholesale businesses, a subdivision, industrial lands, recreation fields, and a subdivision near Rt 132 and Clough Pike.

Oetzels Name Daughter Sara Lynn at Brown County Hospital

Robert and Sally Oetzels welcomed daughter Sara Lynn Aug. 23 at Brown County Hospital Georgetown. The family, of Chestnut Lane, also has two sons Gary and Ricky.

Man 39 Drowns In East Fork River

Milford Forster Hall 39 drowned Monday night in the East Fork of the Little Miami River about one mile east of Milford. His wife Martha and six year old son Ralph pulled him from the water after cramps. N C Ward of the State Highway Patrol administered aid but Hall died. Funeral arrangements are by Monroe-Copher. Rupert L Jack Frost 85 of Williamsburg died Monday and authorities ruled it suicide with a 12 gauge shotgun. Maham Funeral Home to handle arrangements.

Williamsburg couple to celebrate 55th wedding anniversary

Mr and Mrs H G Blackley of Fourth Street will mark their 55th wedding anniversary on Saturday at home south of Williamsburg. Their sons Foster and William Blackley and families will attend, with Foster’s sons David and Alan visiting from Louisville Kentucky and William’s family from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Commission to Seek 0.65 Mill Child Welfare Levy

County commissioners adopted a resolution to place a 0.65 mill levy on the November ballot to fund retarded and crippled children's services and supplement normal child welfare funding. The measure aligns with Ohio law limits and enables federal reimbursement, including specified salary reimbursements for Lena Schwenker and related boarding and medical payments totaling $24,000 through 1961.

Three Break-Ins Probed in County

Three recent break-ins are under investigation by Sheriff Cylde B. Dericks and deputies. The Daisy Mae's Nite Club at 2405 Woodville Pike Goshen reports theft of wine whisky and cigarettes. A cash box containing 28 dollars was stolen from Mt. Moriah Community Methodist Church Williamsville between September 2 and 9. Thieves took 260 dollars from Mt. Carmel Gulf Station owned by Richard Malott Rt.2 Batavia.

Neighbor Fatally Shot in Day Heights Case

Lyle Brewer, 34, faced first degree manslaughter charges after shooting Edward Kaminski, 34, as Kaminski ran toward his home following a shadow sighting reported by Brewer’s wife. Kaminski, an art teacher at Indian Hill, and Kaminski’s wife, also a teacher, were at home during the incident. Brewer posted bond and awaits county court appearance.

Adult Education Sign-Up and Schedule Details

Questionnaires arrive at the West Clermont office to determine which adult education courses will be offered. Registrations begin September 25 with courses starting October 2, meeting weekly for 10 weeks at two hours per week, costing 14 dollars per course.
